that doesn't tell me we were interested though.. that just says we already had a player we wasted the money on in the same position... can't know... this is all frustration at being 5th.
I miss that helicopter almost as much as Air Wolf Anyway, Im sure Depay will love lining up in midfield with RVP and Rooney to feed Fellaini's head
Spurs bid last season and were turned down. Unlike Markovic who came a season too soon Depay chose to stay at an enabling environment and managed to grow his potential further. Plus Markovic is only 20 who scored 3 goals playing from wingback. Which is more than some of those tasked to play striker
Messi will look like Tom Cleverley next to Aspas next season Plus with Aspas you get a free Ass-pass!!
Depay is the same age as Markovic - 21. But he's scored more than double the amount of goals in over 20 less games. There's no real comparison between the 2. Markovic will never set the PL alight imo, Depay might not either, but I'd give him a much better chance
If you read my post carefully you'd have seen I mentioned the part where Markovic came a season too soon. Plus you have chosen to compare Depays stats from a league where Kezman tore up trees to belittle and discredit Markovic. In your opinion Markovic will never set the prem alight and I choose to disagree. So only the future will tell.
Markovic came from an even worse league in Portugal, and I wasn't trying to discredit him, I was posting facts, facts that diminish your point and have apparently made you a tad tetchy. We'll see
Of course a league with perennial CL sides in Porto Benfica and Lisbon is worse than the Dutch league. If you are talking facts I belive these ones passed you http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/country/
Oh right so their UEFA co-efficient based on having 2 quality sides in it, means that the league overall is of a higher standard, right oh lad.
Shifting goalposts I see. So what's the excuse of the Dutch league. By your reasoning even the best Dutch teams can't juice their coefficients. We can go on and but let's leave it. That said my initial post was in response to Markovic being rubbished on the basis we have missed out on Depay.
Markovic was being rubbished as he's been largely mince, and people haven't been impressed by him. The reason he was being brought in as a comparative (by reds) to Depay is obvious, given their similar price tags, age and position.
You can have all the faith you want in Markovich but his value at the moment is hovering around £5million tops after his wretched season where he's only managed 19 appearances where he, during a couple of minutes max, has shown about as much skill as a player like Salah. He's fast becoming another forgettable signing, like Borini. Great players hit the ground running - who was the last great player of ours (or in the prem?) to have such a terrible first season?
