I never noticed, will point the finger at you but...... I like it and stick by my early view that he will never make a decent footballer while I still have a hole in my arse
And you would be right to do so. Disappointment with who long it took for people to notice though Just checked, wasn't quite as long ago as I said; 8 April
Italians suck in the prem. I can't think of a single great Italian player since Zola left chelsea over 10 years ago. Slow league over there flatters their players big time.
hmmmm... not many have come over IMO. Most of thier top top players stay there or hit spain at best. I struggled to think of anyone and the most i could come up with was di canio but he was never a top player. Like... spain.. alonso, mata, arbeloa, silva, fabregas were all internationals in the best team of the last 20 years internationally. not all first pick mind. The italian league is not producing that many players who'd be in strong demand. De rossi is one big name but upfront its a real lack of quality and there are 2/3 clubs over there to hoover them up. I think thier football is still in rag order perosnally. mind you they could say the same of our crap. enlgish players rarely travel and are poor. cole is about the only one out there now.
If I twist that a little and ask you to name any top performing English players plying their trade in Serie A in the last ten years. Much like the English, the Italians don't really like leaving their own country. In the last ten years, we've seen Beckham (Spain & Italy but was poor by then), Owen (Spain) and Barton (France) go abroad.
don't forget cashley. English players are dross the best players in both italy and england are foreign players and its these that move. e.g pogba and vidal will be moving. we've seen suarez et al leave england for spain.
Just makes me laugh that every Italian player must be **** because very few make it in England when we rarely see the best Italians move to our shores. People need a bit of perspective IMO
yes by having a good organisation, good coaching and a genuine top player in pirlo... oh and getting zidane sent off using a total ****.... Italy just have a winning mentality and england don't we really dont.
The Italians are still a well drilled, disciplined bunch - obvs not a patch on the greats like Nesta, Maldini etc but still solid defensively and tactically. What they lack are quality attackers at the moment - they were blessed with Baggio, Vieri etc.
