<peacedove>In the past we bought Spanish players who gelled in immediately an example Xabi
Alonso, but we have not been that lucky with Italian players.
    Example:
    Alberto Aquilani
    Fabio Borini
I wonder if Italian players are not good enough for the premiership?.:emoticon-0173-middl

Italian players who are any good don't leave italy.

Spanish players leave spain as only real and barca can pay and they all want to go there in the end.

In general Spanish players who have get up and go are good.

Watching Chiellini last night was a joy - the way he hacked Ronaldo down in the last minute was beautiful. We need more cynical b*stards.

i do agree.... the amount of times i've screamed hack the ****er down as we let a player break from an attacking set piece is ridiculous.

we've criticized chelsea for it but top sides don't let player run off and score.

i think we need to see that the Italian squad isn't all that nationally and so if an english club turns up... well unless you are buying a buffon or a de rossi or a chellini (all older now btw) it doesnt really add up

    true.

a lot of Italian based players (not italian) came to prem back a while ago as far as henry etc etc.

zola, di canio (less so), vialli, di matteo....... all older players.... i don't think the young ones travel well personally.

Glen Johnson against Palace last year springs to mind. Just let the guy waltz past him on the half way line instead of taking him down and stopping the counter which led to their 2nd or 3rd goal <grr>

    Good example that

Rodgers first season and league cup cones to mind 1-3
Joe Allen supposedly the defender, we are chasing game on clearance from set pie e he decides to cone forward for a header rather than stand back and foul to stop a counter

Short arse loses header exposes team totally and they score

    List goes on I suppose
