Lib Dem Council elected in 2004 following closure of Leisure Centre (unpopular) and the discovery that the leader of the Labour group Lawrence Bailey had been a little naughty; http://www.libdemvoice.org/lawrence-bailey-1726.html

The election result involved Labour losing some councillors and thus being unable to govern.
The Lib Dems were the second party and formed a coalition with the other parties.
4 years later the Lib Dems increased their vote (3 extra councillors) and formed another coalition as still none of the other parties were prepared to back Labour.
Labour returned to power in Swansea Council in 2012 (when everybody voted on national issues instead of local issues....it was in effect an anti-austerity, anti-cut vote).

Swansea Labour have since removed their leader David Phillips following an internal power struggle. Which is ironic considering Dai Twp's post (above) <laugh>

I have to agree with this. You could have Bubbles the Monkey standing for labour in Swansea and clowns would still vote for him. My aunty said yesterday she is voting Labour, when asked why her reason was. Well my father voted Labour and we always do. Says it all.

Wales have voted labour because they are the party who does the least damage to the welsh people and If there was anyone else then don't you think they would have got in by now. there has to be an answer why labour have been the dominant party of wales for all these years.....

Isn't that a terrible reason to vote for someone though Dai? I would like someone who would actually work for Wales, and I mean all of Wales not just Cardiff !! The problem is that none of the parties do enough
