I won't be paying for the next fight. According to sources Mayweather will fight Khan this year. If he wins that he will be 49-0. Then fight Pac next year to try and beat Marciano.
I agree Chilco. Labour are essentially a wasted vote down here in the majority of Tory strongholds, and a few LibDem/Tory marginals. I don't want a Tory government, nor any Tory MPs, but can't bring myself to vote for the LibDems whose leadership stands for bugger all, and seem like unprincipled opportunists. They have gone along with this coalition's cuts to Public Services, and of course they betrayed the student vote on tuition fees. That said, a few of them are good local MPs, although it will be difficult with the burden of having Nick Clegg as leader bearing down on their shoulders. I will vote Labour, as I like Ed Miliband and they are the better alternative to governing this country in my opinion, despite my vote not making a blind bit of difference. Also, all the SNP bashing that has been going on in the media is a load of nonsense. All 3 major Westminister parties begged Scotland to stay in the Union last September, and as they voted 'NO' to independence, they still remain part of the UK. A consequence of that, is the Scottish electorate get to vote in elections for the Westminister Parliament. The Scottish Nationals are a legitimate Political party who, if the opinion polls are remotely accurate, will get many democratically elected members sent down South. They deserve a say, as much as we deserve a say. All this talk about Scotland holding England to ransom is absolute right-wing guff, and frankly an insult to all of the electorate north of the border. The Tories haven't had the most seats in Scotland since the 50s, and as Alex Salmond used to say, "there are more pandas in Edinburgh zoo, than Tory MPs in Scotland". So let's not complain about not getting what you voted for - this is the system we are in.
That was down to the Scottish public, not SNP who, were led by that nut job Salmond who tried his very best to make Scotland independent.
The same Scottish public who are about to elect 40+ Scottish Nationals, who that "nut job" Salmond belongs to. Some people vote for the SNP for policies other than independence you know.
Rightly or wrongly, the SNP having essentially the tie-breaking vote in the Commons is going to annoy a lot of English people. They're going to see a parliament made up largely of English MPs being held hostage by the Scots. That could have unfortunate consequences for the party jumping into bed with them.
Just breaking my election purdah for a moment. Fatletiss, do you sit in front of Alan and Heather at St Mary's? Customers of mine - today they mentioned a guy from Northampton who comes along with his son who sits in front of them. Is it you or do we have a bigger Northampton-based fan club than I previously suspected? Vin
The SNP can only win seats if the "Scottish public" vote for them. If the SNP are involved in a political coalition then we have to respect that they represent the views of a large part of the UK.
I agree about that being how people see it. The Tories are actually called the 'Conservative and Unionist' Party. Stoking up English nationalism, which is exactly what they are doing by trying to 'delegitimise' an SNP block of MPs, will do good for the future of the Union.
Exactly, Sturgeon is playing a very clever game. She's making herself look good in public to get enough votes to secure a coalition with Labour. She's not stupid, she knows the only way SNP will get into power is with a coalition. Miliband denying that Labour will form a coalition with SNP is utter, complete, bullshit. And if what I fear does happen and Miliband gets in as PM with Sturgeon as his deputy she will have made various demands on him before agreeing to the coalition and Miliband will be her puppet.
They will not be doing a coalition. The SNP will vote with Labour instead of the Tories, but will have no ministers in the government. Sturgeon will not, ever, ever be Ed Miliband's deputy. The primary reason for that: She isn't even standing to be an MP.
It does seem that you have fallen for the right-wing propaganda hook-line and sinker Tom. Fair enough, as you are entitled to your opinion, but it is complete rubbish.
Completely changing the subject, but I was in Sainsbury's earlier and noticed that they have 70cl bottles of Famous Grouse for £17, while a litre (100cl) bottle of the same whisky is £16. Guess which size I opted for?
You're all missing the elephant in the room ref the SNP. If they end up with a large number of MPs and are in coalition with Labour, they will go into the voting chamber with Labour. They will be able to vote on English (and Welsh) matters on health and education amongst other things. However, as those matters have been devolved to Scotland, their votes will not affect their constituents. Policies affecting only the English will be passed into law where the majority is only sustained by MPs who have no democratic mandate in England. All that's factual. The following is my estimate of the effect. The English have turned a blind eye to this in the past because it's largely been Labour MPs having this power and no-one seemed to notice. However, once people twig on to the fact that a huge number of SNP MPs are supporting a government with this, that'll change. The media will pick up on this and the electorate will see what's happening. It'll become a full-blown constitutional crisis in no time and there'll be pressure from the English electorate to kick Scotland out of the union. With the English pushing and the Scottish pulling it'll end in tears. And you should be worried by this whether you're a Labour supporter or a Tory supporter. It'll lead to the break-up of the union, something neither Labour nor the Tories (or the Liberals for that matter) want. Vin
