looks like a tough day @ Chester but I i will need to get the cash in before I get to the course for Ladies Day on Thursday ! ... Unless advised otherwise by yourselves in the know I'll be on RAH RAH (steered by Mr. Norton - the prince of Chester) and follow it up with MYMATECHRIS in the Chester Cup singles and win double ... fingers x'd ... what could possibly go wrong ?

210 Chester
Astley Hall did what it did on debut and showed greeness and you dont get away with that at Chester. ADU was up there but went 3 wide and had ran his race by the before they hit the last 2 furlongs so i wouldnt give up on that one yet
This sits between 2 for me Astley Hall & An Duine Usual. Astley Hall won without doing anything right on debut and those that have run from that race have won or gone very close (Be Bop Tango won yesterday) BUT have a look at the State of Emergwncy race that ADU ran in, there are winners galore and even the Taxali that came over for his win was impresive so at the forecats 6/1 I can see this breaking sharp with the Blinkers fitted and going very very close.

240 Chester- Whatsayaboutyou
Hughes gave this one a very strange ride, held up form his draw he them made nice headway before not being asked to go through with it and dropping away and is one to keep an eye out for next time out as I have a feeling that their will be bigger fish to fry with this one.
Has fault less form form last year and although he is back form a break and has a tough first start I just dont see the value in the O'brien horse as favourite when you can back this E/W.

310- Buthelezi
No complaints here, ran well for a long way before tiring out of it, just not good enough on the day.
Won on his seasonal reapperance and from that race 3 out out of the first 5 have won next time out with the other finishing a neck second. drawn in stall 5 he can attack as he did in his last race and try and outstay them when some are finishing fast.

345 Blithe Spirit
Again no complaints, didnt get across form his draw and was disappointing with a capital C as he usually loves Chester, might come to light that there was a problem
Trainer loves sending Blithe Here and he ran well in a decent race for the grade last time out and i fully expect him to win well here, I have got on tonight as i have a feeling this will be backed.

420- Sir Isaac Newton
Keen and was edged out of it on ground he might not have enjoyed?
I'll keep this short but SIN wins.

455- Normal Equilibrium
finally a race I have seemed to have read right and just had it the wrong way round but the E/W bet and the reverse forecats paid very well and covered the loss on NE.
All of his rivals who have a chance are drawn wider than stall 4 so this horse has the best chance. if Silvanus can get a good pitch in behind from 5 he might have a chance of going close but Normal E has gone pillar to post b4 and will attempt to do so here.

525 Secateur
Was backed off the boards but the rain had well and truly got into the ground and with that Secateur's chance was gone and he faded into 5th. Might be one for next time out on better ground?
Has form with some of these but i known it was a3 runner race he won but my word how easy and i always have to back one that is so impressive.

OTHERS TO NOTE

Kelso

250- West Ship Master (improved and then faded, handicapper has his measure)
320- Resolute Reformer ( ran well for a long way but could be handicapped out of it as well)
355- Turtle Watch ( Backed and won well @ 15/8)

Chester 2.40

Banzari 6/1

This is a right middle distance prospect for Michael Bell, especially with give underfoot. Was 2nd on debut and was then thrown into the May Hill, where she was a never nearer 5th. The winner that day was half a length 2nd in a Group 1 won by Together Forever next time out and Banzari is just going to keep on improving. The rain has come and the biggest obstacle to her winning is Frank Spencer getting her out of the gate.

She will be most interesting to follow IMO.

No love for AWESOME ROSIE..........shame on you!

I like SILVER WINGS in the opener tomorrow as it has the perfect draw to back up its early pace although my enthusiasm is a little tempered by the rain!

I keep narrowing the Chester races down to two but unsure of where to place the cash.

Silver Wings / Rah Rah
Banzari / Diamondsandrubies
Quick Jack / Angel Gabriel
Bfifty Two / Piazon
Sir Isaac Newton
Dutch Masterpiece / Masmah
Hernandoshidaway / Recently Aquired

To be fair Stick I hadn't got as far as Uttoxeter but now you have said I'm in!!! She owes us a run after last time.

Silver Wings won well and will be popular but nothing has ran from his race so he could flop or be a very good horse and we just don't realise it yet !!! We will after tomorrow

Two for me today for some interest;

3.10 Chester - DESTRUCT 33/1 ew

Intresting ex French horse who has won a listed race over 1m 7f so should see no problem with today's trip off the track for over 600 days but on his best form seems to be on a decent Mark! And has Fallon on board.

4.55 Chester - Dutch Masterpiece -9/2

Still very lightly raced horse who on his 2013 form is miles above this field , he wnt off favourite for the prix de l Abbaye that year and his reappearance from 12 months off showed he has still some of that class plus he should improve add in the fact he has ryan on board he should be goin of favourite

Cold - wet - windy @ the Roodee .. .. the going must be easing with every passing hour and may well play into the hands of Quick Jack after all ... let the games commence - could we see a Ballesteros renaissance in these conditions ?

Had to take the day off today due to my little boy being unwell so have done a little experiment for fun:

Two placepots at Chester, me vs my two year old:

Mine:

Silver Wings
Zamoura
Quick Jack
Confessional
Sir Isaac Newton
Silvanus

His:

City Of Stars
Tepeleni
Gabrials King
Come On Dave
Sir Isaac Newton
(i **** you not he pointed to this one)
Normal Equilibrium

Lets see how it goes

Today is not my day.
Was just following the Sharapova game. It went 5-4 to her opponent with Sharapova to serve, Skybet were offering 1/4 for her to hold yet 6/5 for there to be over 10.5 games in the set (obviously a mistake) so I jumped on it and she goes and loses her serve

SHU LEWIS 20/1 is drawn for SDS to be agressive, handles conditions, and stays. Form with Windsor Park looks good. Has a right e/w chance for the Chester Cup

Bet 365 have given me a free bet from Sunday in the 2-05 at Chester. I wouldn't have had a bet here so have gone with my favourite combination of Johnston and Fanning and backed Fashionable Spirit. Good luck all

Interesting to see Axom Syndicates selling off their rogues Irving, Vibrato Valtat and Far West. Would be a hard lot to win with next season even with Mr Nicholls but still...

Well Fanning won't be on him today as he's stood down after picking up an injury after riding at Catterick yesterday.

Andy Mount from GG.com has put this horse up as his track bias tip for today. A friend of mine follows his tips obsessively, with little success I might add but he sticks with it because he's convinced he's got a big one due!

Best of luck

back home to Belfast, had to do Rah Rah for obvious reasons (RA man killed yesterday) got 3's, sweet!

Typical Mark Johnston trained horse, battle hardened and don't know when they're beaten! Well done to backers of Rah Rah at Chester.

Tony martin sends quick jack to chester in the 3.10; must think he has a serious chance if he's arsed sending on to good old chesters
