I wouldn't be shocked if we didn't win another game mate.

A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush and all of that.

Once we've got three points off Leicester or someone else and moved ourselves out of the bottom three I'll start thinking of our next season being in the Premier League, until we do that I'm not going to get ahead of myself.

not being neg Smug, but we all said that about Hull, after we had consigned Leicester to relegation.
Personally, I can see them sneaking 3 points from a lucky win against a team not interested anymore.
Still a lottery though as i can see us sneaking some points against a team not interested anymore.
    Back to getting drunk though....<cheers>

I know mate, I stand by what I said as well, I was humbled at one point by Pardew!

I didn't think you lot were safe though, not until you get 40 points, that's the rule innit generally.

You've just been a bit like the Newcastle defence at Leicester .......

Had a fair whack of uni work aswell as our lass coming back from holiday so had little free time. I've had a quick browse once or twice though.

Erasing the word "virtually" would give a more apt description of our defence at the weekend in my opinion. I count my blessings that we now have 3 games against teams with nothing to play for. I'm no mathematician but I'd wager that that at least 1 out of 3 will not be arsed for the game and allow us to scrape the rancid 3 points we need to stay up.

I'd usually not waste my time speculating that a PL side could fail to get a point from 3 games.

In this case it's possible and I'll be looking at the odds tomorrow to see if it's worth a bet.

Newcastle have been shocking, lost 8 games and were dreadful at Leicester ..... now they've lost 2 more defenders.

Moving Colback into defence would be suicide but I don't see what else you can do.

Coloccini is an absolute disgrace as a player, as a captain he's even worse.

We had good spells against Man United, Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal and Swansea. We were very unlucky to come away from those 5 with 0 points. I just think we have enough to get the win.
Coloccini is an excellent player, it's his refusal to wear his heart on his sleeve and put his body on the line for us that has led to him being completely ineffective and hampering us on the pitch. Disgrace of a person, I'd call him.
Although it's incredibly makeshift, a defence of Anita - Coloccini - Dummett - Taylor should hold it's own. We'll be okay. I suspect we'll get the win we need this weekend but I won't start truly bricking it unless we still aren't safe come the final day.
My prediction is that whoever gets the better result this weekend between you and Hull will stay up. You need to better their result.

That Newcastle has vanished, under Carver, which is why you had that shameful display at Leicester. I agree there's enough there to get a win, from your last few games, but will those players turn up? West Brom have won their last 2 away games with a particular 'style' that will frustrate the home supporters on Saturday. They haven't conceded a goal in their last 3 games and are doing the opposite of Newcastle ....... playing as a team.
It's all very well Coloccini writing an open letter to the supporters but, as you say, he needs to show some balls as a captain.

As for your suggestion, I think you're about right ....... this is Burnley's last chance and I'm hoping they throw everything at Hull.
If they could get a result it could help save Sunderland. I think both Hull & us will draw which makes our Leicester game the clincher imo.

You may not, but let's face it, there's not 'no chance' is there?

They would be in the relegation places, then, whereas all teams that are 'there or there abouts' are in that zone :emoticon-0113-sleep

Right, well pedantry aside.... We're still in the relegation zone/places and my point hasn't changed as a result of some ridiculous disagreement over definitions.

    That's just your interpretation.

After 38 games the relegation zone is 18th, 19th and 20th place, everything else is nothing to do with relegation. You can't change the definition of a word according to how many games have passed.

I'm sure you're going to say a zone is an unspecified area and 'relegation places' has a definitive parameter, but you're still wrong, the zone in this case is not unspecified it has been assigned parameters fit for use, it only encompasses the bottom three spots, everything outside of that zone is nothing to do with relegation.
