They'd challenge for the CL because instead of playing donkeyball Martinez would #luckout and be forced to rely on their attacking wing play

Naismith would be knocking them in for fun

Whereas your entire strikeforce hasn't bagged anywhere near as many against even the crap teams.......

If it wasn't for your winger turned emergency (all the others are ****e ffs, please play there) striker Little Richard you might have gone down.

I got that. My point still stands - how did he manage full games, full season for Southampton but tired after 5 in a row for us? Do you think it's because he isn't being used properly?

    #16765
  6. Because like us last season, Southampton were playing one game a week. This season, we were playing two games a week. Add the style of football into the equation and he simply couldn't keep up. I'm not criticising Lambo, he was my preferred option up top whilst Studge was injured but he shouldn't have been playing every minute of every game.

Lambert said himself in preseason he had to up his training as he was worried about not playing and sharpness

    The reality is

    1) style of play is different
    2) he's not fast enough to play up front without people getting close to him, he's never going to run in behind, only going to get behind someone and lose them for a cross
    3) he played 2 a week and looked very very ropey

I think personally he never fitted. I could see in a SAS scenario a few cup games and him being a sub on.

I feel rodgers bought him but never played him even for those 20mins. It was like he was bought to come on when 3-0 up as a throw on to rest SAS. As we've not ever really got 3-0 up anywehre rodgers seesm not to want to sue him

    Is that misused? maybe

I agree. What I don't understand is why the very viable option of him with Lallana, once he was fit, wasn't used more. I also think for a boyhood LFC fan. leaving him out of the 'once in a lifetime' Real game when a second string team [including Borini] was played, was harsh.

BR bought a shed load of players to compete in a season with extra games and never played them to their strengths or with the extra games in mind. When Balo and Lambert don't fit BR's 'style' - why buy them in the first place? But once that decision had been made, not using them properly, was stubborn and wrong.

  9. Lambo and Lallana did play a couple of games and they did link up too but you're right that it wasn't used as much as it perhaps should have been. My guess would be because Brod was attempting to accommodate the likes of Sterling, Coutinho, Gerrard and Hendo in the same team. Sterling and Coutinho perform best as a number ten, I think the same can be said for Lallana. They can't all play there.

As for your second paragraph, your guess is as good as mine. I wouldn't have bought them.

Rodgers has got a lot to learn and it's a shame we're his guinea pig <laugh>

  11. I think he needs to accept he needs help in three areas; transfer market, defensive coach and a better assistant (I think he brought his own team with him and is therefore surrounded by yes men)

    1. agree. don't rate his player knowledge at all. We';ve a system set up. i don't believe in it as there's hidden faces and no clear I picked x or i picked y. If that means a technical director or **** it jonh henry saying buy him or him fine. Rodgers can't attact players nor can he pick em IMO

    2. Defensive coach. Watching moreno defend has me sold on this one too. The sheer basics of set piece defense time after time after time are wrong. We are also too seep far too much and defensive coach should include GK coach to get the whole team working better together

    4. Better assistant... yes pascoe strikes me as a yes man.... marsh is not someone I think is at the level of experience yet. he needs to work on his own skills. I'd be saying FFS B-Rod you let carra slip away why not hyppia then... c'mon are you intimidated by having a guy like that in? He's failed enough to not be next LFC manager in waiting now but could be good as coach

not all good suggestions from me i'm sure but we can say its not right now so someone has to make changes

  13. 1. Not bothered about this not knowing who selected who bollox. Brod has the final say (previously confirmed by Brod and Ayre) so all transfer land with him IMO.

    2. Open play is one thing (which I believe could be solved with a true DM) but the number of goals we concede from set pieces is criminal.

    3. He needs someone in his team that is willing to question is decisions. Why has no one question him picking Gerrard and Johnson? Why did no one point out that the three was struggling long before the Man Utd game? Why has no one pointed out how much of a cock he makes himself look in interviews? On this though, there is the possibility that someone has but Brod's ignore them. In which case, what's the point in having a team?

i agree on one. he's suppose to. the rest is excuses

i agree on two, open play we are not awful at all... its set pieces hat is just what you say

on 3.... the length of time things are left would suggest he's not getting real feedback but we can't know..

  15. Ie 3... If he's not listening then he deserves sacking regardless. That's a steep to far in terms of arrogance. I believe he's got yes men for company though.

i can only conclude they are as i cant see any motivation for a pascoe to fall out with rodgers as his pensions on the line.

a hyppia or a clarke might have ambitions but as they do they are willing to go further.

at youth level our coaches are way more qualified than at first team level

He has help in the transfer market doesn't he, it just doesn't seem to be the right help. They must surely have scouts separate to any transfer committee as well so that's an area that could improve.

Definitely needs a defensive coach and goalkeeping coach, what's Pako doing these days? Most managers bring their assistant but at least he didn't do a Moyes.

For all his studying of the game and dossier or whatever impressed the owners, he needs to realise there's more to being a manager than tactics and picking the team.

my main thing is someone somewhere put balotelli on a list... 5 men all looked at each other in a room somewhere... probably several meetings as well and somehow the gobshites still signed him... that points to collective delusion or myopia or just plain stupidity
