No not at all. But football is about being entertained, why bother watching football if it's boring you. I'd rather go listen to some music than sit there through a dull game of football. Only reason I watch football is to enjoy it in a similar way to watching a film or tv programme.

Different if you're in the stadium or possibly pub because you can enjoy the atmosphere etc.

Footbal is quite boring though, action wise. lt is 80-85 minutes of boring, no action and about 5-10 minutes max of action. But we still love it because the belief or chance that something might happen is always there.

I think we just see it differently, then. I can't say I class going to Anfield to watch a game the same as going to the cinema to watch a film. And plus I class a Liverpool win as entertainment, even if it is a **** game.

I find getting 3 points more enjoyable than a 3-3 draw. I also find it far more enjoyable when we control and dominate a game and win 2-0 than win 6-3 (Cardiff last season).

However, there's no reason why we can't be defensively sound, dominant midfield, and a potent attack but more importantly, win games - all at the same time.

And this is the issue I have with Rodgers - he can't seem to find the balance, and at the moment, we seem to be poor in all areas.

Yep, hate the approach of 'we'll score more than you'.

Was thinking about first half against Villa away last season - the first half ended 1-0 but we dominated it from start to finish. Villa couldn't get the ball. It was a joy to watch.

Hope we do bring in some midfielders - a proper DM, push Can into CM. And if we're lucky, Kovacic and Coutinho ahead of them. Football p*rn.

I'm not sure ppl really understand this. Ofcourse winning trophies is the ultimate goal....but what happens in the mean time?? There are only 4 major trophies to be had and for 99.9% of teams you can wittle that down to 2. Liverpool, United, Everton WILL win silverware at some point but what happens in the mean time? Anyone with any love for the sport itself should want their team to play entertaining, attacking football. Surely the journey is as important as the destination... bcos more often than not, you won't reach that destination. So if all you're interested in is winning silverware why the hell would you bother watching it?? And if you're a fan of Charlton or Huddersfield or similar club with even less chance of winning trophies it becomes even more important.

ehhhh you freaking TRY to win the stuff...

If you are an arsenal fan of course you whine about it then stop whining about it after one win... wenger, in wenger out.... shake him all about... (leterally they did shake him up in a train station)

I'd contend if you are charlton fan your priorities might be:

a) stable club (i remember the valley debacle and the pain they suffered)
b) promotion
c) winning their league
d) cup run with a big tie in there (which you dream of winning)

If our priorities become

1. 4th
2. 4th
3. 4th
4. entertain

it'll be quite boring.... the aim is to win. every game the aim is to win. Its not a WWE match where we go to shout "WHAT" or hear some clown bleat on about whats good for business and expect a 6 man tag team match cos its not PPV as our main fare... We as fans want to see us win. The mentality of LFC HAS to be to win, if its not I have said before and i'll say again may as well close the gates and make a museum not a new stand.

IF all it took to run a football club was entertainment there would be no investment , no massive losses chasing a dream... I think we can all see Roman Abramovich tried thinking this lets be entertainers and ended up sacking more managers chasing it than anything. how'd they win their CL? how'd they grind out the league title this year... hmmmmm.....

If villa win the cup then they go into the groups and we go into the last qualifying while 6th place goes into early quals.

If arsenal win then 5th goes groups 6th last qual and 7th early quals.

Sours losing today opens up a 3 point gap to 6th so couple more wins should secure that spot.

UEFA have changed the entry criteria for the Europa group stage.

Now the cup winners and 5th in the PL both go into the group stage (or 5th and 6th if Arsenal win the cup)

houllier was an odd fish. he was if anything more negative than benetiz while by contrast evans was on the opposite side of it by not having substance but having some flair.

Rafa was a straight jacket according to some but then he freed gerrard to play in torres and brought alonso etc. then again in europe he played anti football for sure.. barca, juve, chelsea all come to mind.

Sure, the actual winning of the cups were great, especially since we did it the hard way (the Liverpool way it seems) in the finals but that's the crook of the argument isn't it? Potential of four good days a year vs forty plus entertaining matches? I'd preferred Roy Evans' reign over Gerard Houllier's because I watch football to be entertained.

That's what defensive managers do isn't it? A rigid structured team with one or two players that have the freedom to be creative so long as they still work defensively? Mourinho does it with Hazard, many have done it with Robben and as you've rightly said already, Rafa with Gerrard.

he wuld let one full back go forward and held the other back... as mourinho does at cheslea now... but then rafa buys johnson and defending gets worse!

he tried to add width from full backs and such and buy bloody aquilani...

I don't call anchelotti defensive but he's one of the best coaches in europe. do they have to be defensive or all attack?

I'm sure the likes of Jimmy love to see ten men camp on his own area with the occasional hoof ball for Mo to chase but not me. Boring as **** IMO

I eman I would like to see us thrash a side but it's like this back in the day the "invincibles" were supposed to be awesome to watch correct?

well if you look back do you remember something more like oh 15 mins or 20 mins of them running over sides then 70mins of them controlling games... they controlled games too but had the rep for great football

If you watch an el classico today the game is utterly ruined by diving and cheating and awful stuff but the thing is in general they have less shots and less chances missed than in england if you ignore the petty nature of it. why? cos they know how to defend properly.

It shocked me to see a europa winner in moreno form a biggish team in spain be so incometant at the art of defending especially inside his own box marking players.

surely there's a base competence and then after that expression is possible.

But the ain is not to enterain tv fans but to win games.
