I don't buy this ....my agent is dealing with negotiations whilst I concentrate on my football. I can see him trying to stay for next season whilst running his contract out to boost his signing on fees this time next year I really hope I am wrong but smell a rat
They are never going to get top money playing for a team like saints. What they normally get is a good run of games and a fair chance of getting an international call up if they are any good. Playing in the Champions league is not all it is cracked up to be from a football standard, only from a prestige standard. If you are an international you get as much recognition from those games matching any champions league recognition. So all this bullshit saying they are only leaving to play champions league football is rubbish. It is about money and so called fame..........
He will either stay or be sold this summer....Saints won't want his contract to run down. A team would only do that if they thought they would face relegation without a player...that doesn't apply here. I'm sure he is happy here and would be happy to stay if a more interesting offer didn't come up....that's all I get from his comments. I'm not angry with him...be lovely if he stayed, but not getting my knickers in a twist about it. All I would say is beware the promises of bigger teams, Nat...you may think you will always be a starter, but it ain't necessarily so.
Agree Fran, at the end of the day a RB isn't a key position, Clyny was very good pre New Year but his performances have declined markedly as the season has progresses and there are a good number of RBs out there that could replace him without damaging next season. That said I would still rather he stays as long as he gets his head down and concentrates on playing at 100% for Saints and not 90% as has been the case in recent months
I thought Clyne was superb last season when he was overlooked by Hodgson. This season, he hasn't been as good. I think that the opposition have worked out how one-footed he is and have done a good job of blocking his overlapping runs and crosses. Of course, he now gets selected to for England (but thats because he was playing for a top 4 club when selected). Anyway, if there is a club who thinks he is the best full back out there and is willing to pay the going rate, then I don't think it would be a tragedy if he left. I believe it should be possible to get someone as good and make a profit. Just don't ask me who!
Only happen if nothing better comes along, but he can't keep us hanging. Koeman/Reed need to know in order to plan. Clyne is good, but not a player our season depends on.
IF Clyne signs and they manage to get Jay to also, I can see Morgan staying. Aslong as a big team doesn't come in. Can't honestly see what spurs would offer better compared to us.. we could match wages.
Not sure where everyone gets this idea that we can pay similar wages to the likes of Spurs/Everton as I'm certain it isn't the case.
We probably could, but whether we want to is a different matter, no way do I want us to be held to ransom by a bunch of mercenaries no matter how good they think they are.
That's garbage. The Champions League is the premier competition at club level. Players are competitors at the end of the day, always striving to be the best they can be (Nigel). I wouldn't begrudge a player leaving for a top CL club, imagine facing Barcelona or Real Madrid in the Final at Wembley. If they left for Tottenham on the other hand...
That's hardly a prediction really with the, "as long as a big team doesn't come in" That's like saying we'll win the next game unless the opposition score more.
