Its been a while since I have been able to post so here goes! Clarke Has not got the experience in the Conference that we need, firstly to attract the right players and secondly get us out of Non League football. It will all end in tears no pun intented. Higgs should along with other members of the board take responsibility for our current position and fall on his and there collective swords, and let others who understand how to structure a football club from top to bottom move in and refocus the club on football matters. Its not about fans getting behind the manager players and board at this difficult time its about the current management and playing staff understanding there failings....in any other business, they would have been sacked by the shareholders. Its laughable that the season ticket prices remain the same.........I cannot think of another club who have experienced relegation who have not reduced there season ticket prices. As Rovers season ticket holders we have endured some very poor entertainment and dropping out of the football league should have seen a decent reduction in prices but for some reason Higgs and Co feel that our prices are value for money.....Absolute poppycock what planet is this man and the board on? Disagree or agree discuss COR
Hi COR! It's been a while so a warm welcome back to you. I don't believe that DC is the man to get us out of the Conference. I said as much on a thread at the foot of this page. He does have experience of the Conference with Salisbury but he was also an integral part of the failed coaching set up that got us into this God-awful situation in the first place. I also don't think he has the experience or a nasty enough edge to motivate under-performing players to get us promoted. He's also Higgs' choice which in itself is the kiss of death. If only Higgs etc would f**k off, but unfortunately he won't cos he is the majority shareholder and I don't see a huge queue of investors wanting to buy us. As for the season tickets, that's just farcical. They should be giving them away after what we've endured.
DC had no say in matters, he as much as confirmed that on his interview. He could give his thoughts to Ward but ultimately Ward had the only say in the matter. For me, coaching wasn't the problem so much as team tactics. I liked DC's formation but he obviously didn't have the players to play that formation. Let's give him a chance with his own players and judge him 10 games into the season, not before
We need to get behind the manager for once. The Mem gets toxic when the fans start niggling the manager and then it affects the team. Give the lad a chance. If he signs the right players, which I think he will, we'll have a great season.
I'll be behind him because he's our manager, and I will always back a Rovers manager at the game. But I remain to be convinced that he's the man to get us promoted.
All we can do is get behind the manager BB Fingers crossed DC is as good as some hope, and we have a great season
I agree he's not the man for job but the board have left him in charge so all we can do is support him, never know he prove us all wrong. If all else fails we could always offer Moyes the job after all we are the Man U of the conference and I hear he's looking for a job
when clarke took over from ward, his 1st interview on his own away from higgs and ward, one of the 1st things he said was he has his own ideas that were very different to ward. he gave his opinions and advice to ward just like stewart did but ward had his own ideas and ward obviously had the final decision. im sorry, this is not clarkes fault. he has been very concerned over the lack of pace and strength in attack and the lack of wingers and creative players at the club. things he put forward to ward but ward didnt listen. soon as he took over from ward, he dropped parkes and made mcchrystal captain. dropped o'toole too. he changed formations and tactics and showed he had several plans during games than just plan A. he has shown he aint scared to make changes and shown he has more tactical awareness and knowledge than a lot managers that we have had recently. giving clarke the manager job after the emergency loan closed meant clarke couldnt bring anyone in at all. that was terrible timing. but whose timing was it? wards and higgs not clarkes. clarke had to use the players that ward left behind. players who since the season ended has been confirmed either couldnt be bothered to turn up to training or had a drinking habit (according to the OS forum a drug habit too) and players who were injured. also losing players such has smith and brown to injuries could have got us that extra 1 point that could have kept us up so that didnt help him. what we do know is that clarke is going to be dealing with the off the pitch unacceptable behaviour by players by making a code of conduct. he will make the player fitter. he has the tactical knowledge to do the job, he knows what we lacked last season and will rectify this. wants more leaders at the club. he is saying the right things and has done the right things so far. he couldnt be blamed for the 8 games that he was in charge of and certainly couldnt be blamed for the games while ward assistant. he has experience in this level which will be a massive boost. im excited about him remaining manager. for me totally the right man. he can only be judged when he has his own team. he hasnt even got 1 player in the door yet. need a chance.
I'm never convinced any manager is the right one to get us promoted, because anything can happen. Everyone thought McGhee was the man to lead us to promotion I seem to remember. Same with Holloway in the late 90s. Give DC a chance. It's unfair to say all this before the season starts.
Clark has said the right things so let's give him a chance. I am encouraged by the fact that he seems to know the sorts of players he needs for a squad that will get us out of the Conference. I believe him. And I understand his frustration with some of the players he is letting go who have not performed well enough or consistently enough. The fact is that he has achieved promotions in the lower leagues, which is never easy. Salisbury were pretty good and unearthed players like Tubbs so I think Clark knows his stuff.
I have said all along I believe that DC is the manager to take us onwards and upwards, When he took over he was not in a position to bring in any players either on loan or permanately. He has worked wonders with Harrison and turned him into a player who plays with confidence and scores goals, Matty Taylor has 20 goals so far Lines and Monkhouse are playing and contributing to the team. Lee Mansell has been outstanding in the games I have seen and in Dawson and Della Verde he brought in 2 good wingers. Blissett Will come good with experience and Easter will be a good signing when he has recovered from his operation. He got rid of the overpaid can't be bothered to work players who showed no concern when we were relegated last season
He's been absolutely brilliant. He's shown great judgement, he's been resilient and I hope he's with us for a good few years to lead us up the pyramid...
Its sad when members stop posting for whatever reason. COR was 1 of just a few who came here from when the bbc606 closed.
