The race also included dodgy pit stops and team orders that have created controversy. So what will be the aftermath at nurburg? will Ferrari continue a title surge? will Mclaren fight back? or will Red bull get back to winning ways? Bit of a boring track, this one, and I think the winner will come from one of the four previous winners this season. During the press conference Alonso was deliberately bullish (to coin a phrase), and I think he was meaning to intimidate Vettel. I take this to mean that Alonso has growing confidence in his car, so for that reason I'm going for Alonso again this time. I'd settle for a close fight between a few of them. I'd even settle for a Vettel win if he had to fight for it. Last time out though he got jumped by Alonso at the pit stop, realised he would have to overtake someone to win, then just gave up.
This race is going to be fantastic. The most interesting point would be how the pecking order changes with the setting changes - I don't believe that off-throttle made much of a different to the teams, for example both Red Bull and Ferrari were well balanced throughout the weekend (despite the loss of rear downforce). In Red Bull's case they probably lost about half a second, while Ferrari lost something like 3 tenths. Overall though, all of the top teams lost some performance so I don't think the change back to Valencia settings will affect the pecking order too drastically. Some people are convinced Ferrari's improved form was due to the ban, but I look forward to seeing those people proved wrong in Germany. The updates must have improved the car by at least six tenths, probably more: - Improved DRS would help them in qualifying - Revised suspension geometry helped with the treatment of the hard tyre (which we saw in FP3 and Q1) - New floor, with strange slits - New exhaust layout - Flexible front wing (worth a few tenths by itself) Pat Fry said ALL updates were working well, which is unlikely when teams bring so many to one race. I think the biggest proof that it was the updates responsible for Ferrari's improved form was in sector 2 (where it was all high speed corners with no off-throttle). Alonso was flat out through corpse in qualifying for example, as were Red Bull. A good amount of downforce is still required for Germany, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Red Bull with the fastest car again, with Ferrari close behind. Hopefully Webber or Alonso can do something special. I hope they only have 1 DRS zone and keep it on the pit straight (otherwise overtaking will be too easy). As for the victory, I can't see past Vettel or Alonso (in dry, normal conditions without SC's, etc.)
When does the voting close? I'm not falling into the trap of voting early again, I'll wait and see what the many rule changes Charlie Whiting will force through before the GP are before casting my vote.
The convidence boost is with alonso . The car is improving and so is fenando devestating combo ! Red bull are still there of course but i can see webber bottling up his fustration from silverstone to germany . Vettel is in a carm place atm he will do what he has to lol he will end up on the podium as for mclaren i cant see them having a gd race tbh hamilton and button will drive there hearts out to TRY and keep up with ferrari and redbull as usual. Button said Mclaren need to stat taking risks in there development otherwise they might lose out to ferrari (constructers) in the long run.
Would have gone for Vettel at his home GP but the short-turnaround between races gives the edge to Alonso now he has the momentum of a race victory.
Vettel, Alonso was storming last year when he knew the team were backing him for the WDC. Sebs only rival is Alonso now and with the blown diffuser restriction being changed for the.... I forgot how many times now. So Ferrari will be up there but the car won't be getting many upgrades while the RBR's addons still haven't been used properly with the 50% blowing throttle.
Pat Fry promises a faster car for Germany, while Autosport says: Domenicali hopes that the team can bring further upgrades to its car for the German Grand Prix, at which a good performance would go some way to convincing the team that it can look forward to a strong second half to the campaign. "For sure we will try to put some other updates on the car and then we will see what we have," he said. "That is our objective. I like Alonso's view of approaching every race like it's the final race of the year. Providing Ferrari can remain as competitive as they were in Silverstone, we should have a good battle between Alonso and Vettel for the title - even though Alonso's chances are still very very small.
I hate this track, for me personally it has no real character. Couldn't see anyone win but Fernando. Also anyone know what the tyre compounds are??

Good....good, hopefully the weather will be dry next race weekend so we can see who really does have the fastest car for the second half of the season. Seb won't be slacking so it should be a good fight, and I know for a fact you want mclaren out of the way so it gives Alonso a better chance. Mclaren could walk away with Spa and Monza though which you will need to win since red bull haven't done to well there in the past. game on!
Its Medium and Soft PMC iirc SA: tbh, I want Mclaren and Ferrari exactly the same (or pretty much the same) as Red Bull, just so Vettel doesnt always come second because if he does, he's won the champ no matter what.
Cheers. I think everyone was saved having not needed to use the Hard tyres in the race at Silverstone, maybe even more so for Ferrari. But even so Fernando had a big enough gap and he really should thank Lewis for that, as Lewis held Vettel up for a long time.
