Key word is you think. Nobody knows. My view is that he wouldn't have changed many of the games since he left.

The subtle difference being that Morgan has played all season whereas Cork would've been warming the bench for the most part. I'm happy that the club did the right thing and didn't stand in his way after the great service he has given us.
Just to add that Saints have moved on and we could never have guaranteed Jack Cork first team football in the future.

Although the sum we received was low it will go towards buying replacements in the summer. The books mus be balanced.

    I don't think Jack Cork = 5th place but I guess we'll never know.

One thing about Jack Cork though. He gets a regular start for a team only 4 points behind ours. So let's not run away with the idea he wasn't good enough.

I can't see one person even suggesting that.

I thought there was an element of it in a couple of posts.

I think mainly those of us saying that the club did the right thing at the time by letting a player go, who wasn't first choice and was unlikely to be first choice. A couple of us also said that we don't think his staying would have given us 5th place.

I've always liked Jack Cork as a player, but believe the club did the right thing by not keeping a player who wanted to move on to be playing regularly.

I would rather we had kept him. He would've been playing regularly during the run-in, in my opinion.

If he was here, then he'd have been playing with the injuries and suspensions we had, for sure. At the time of the event, I think the club did good by him and themselves. It's no use people crying over spilt milk.

Agreed but he wanted to go unfortunately and with no time left on his contract we had to sell in January...no choice unfortunately

I would've been delighted had Cork signed a new contract that was offered to him, but he wanted to move on to pastures new to kick start his career that had unfortunately stalled a bit at Saints. We can look at it in purely selfish terms that he would've been an assest to us in the run-in and held him to his contract, but I believe he deserved to be able to make his decision without pressure from the club.
I wish Corky all the best at Swansea and am glad he chose to join a progressive club that is right for him.

    I haven't spilt any milk. <whistle>

I'm just doing a what-if. I liked Jack Cork a lot and I'm sorry he's playing for Swansea and not for us. It's purely me being selfish. Good luck to him.

It was never about him not being good enough. He is good enough but our 2 first choice CDM's are better.

Was it ever established that JWP's red card was for preventing a goal scoring opportunity, thus three game ban? I watched a poor quality replay and it didn't look like an intentional foul let alone a red card.

I believe on MOTD2 they didn't even think it was a penalty. But they understood that from the ref's view he couldn't have seen that it wasn't. Great eh..? Technology please.

Right, I'm going to put this to bed once and for all. A RED CARD FOR DENYING A CLEAR GOALSCORING OPPORTUNITY IS A 1 GAME BAN!!!!!!!!! I've said it enough times!

Thanks, thought so, someone else has got it wrong on another site, they say his Season is over, which, patently it is not.

And in that case isn't really worth an appeal.

I admit I was surprised when you said it, you normally get these things right.

Seeds of doubt crept in when I read it, now I can't find where it was, to put them right!
