    That was surprisingly easy:cheesy:
    Serious question .
What is likely to happen if you go down with the financial fair play business?
I heard talk of triple relegation , how on earth do they decide who fills the extra place in the Championship and Lg 1 ?.
Probably just another wopping great fine.

Of course it will be a fine.
The FA are more interested in making money than relegating teams.

They can't pay as much as QPR.

We all know the more money you have the less likely you are to get penalised.

This links quite nicely into this thread!

If you think the people at the bottom of the so called 'social ladder', the ones who rely on state help to keep a roof over their heads and just enough food on the table to feed the family are enjoying all the same "finer things in life" as those at the higher end of the ladder, those fortunate not to have been born into poverty and who have had better breaks in life then I'm afraid that just further underlines your sheer, blinkered and bereft of compassion ignorance.

And you're proud to call yourself a "Tory bastard" , dear me <doh>

    Says it all really.

I grew up in a house with a bog in a shed in the yard and a tin bath hanging on the wall. We didn't feel poor though because everyone else was in the same boat. I started a business in 1977 and my old man went nuts when I borrowed thirty five grand to buy a redundant filling station and opened a garage. I was just very, very lucky. I bought at the right time and things spiraled upwards. But it could have gone wrong and not every business is a success. As well as that I was lucky to have a business brain. I see people all the while starting harebrained schemes that are doomed to fail.

So is it fair that those who are disadvantaged end up living in squalor? I don't think that it is. I think those of us who can succeed are duty bound to help those who for whatever reason find themselves in difficulties. The Tories first thought of course is how they can profit from their misfortune.

FYI Munky my roots are working class, my Nan had thirteen kids and survived four of them. Grandfather, who I never knew, worked six days a week to cloth and feed all of them and tragically lost his life to leukemia at 56 having beaten the disease once before. From what I can gather they were all staunch Labour voters at a time when the Labour party looked after the interests of the working man, sadly those days are long gone. I mean the Labour leader has never 'worked' in his life, never had a proper job and is just a career politician like the rest of them. Fine, you may not agree with my views, I don't happen to agree with yours. Be thankful we live in a democracy cast your vote on Thursday like everyone else and just like me accept the decision of the majority of the electorate.

P.S. Let me know if you intend to do a MTD for Saturday, you have first refusal as you have been doing a grand job in my absence. If not I'll put one of mine together.

You are not going to flounce off after the first game and give up again are you KIO ?.
No point in doing half a job mate :emoticon-0105-wink:
The only thing that you posted that wound me up is the 1 hard working person to every 10 lazy feckless dole scroungers.
This is sadly a Tory tradition to bash the unfortunate and total bullshit.
I don't need NHS care or housing benefit or DSS hand outs but I certainly wouldn't vote to destroy this safety net .
The amount of Tax and N I I have paid over my life I would not have any shame in claiming if I needed it .

    Here's a question.

If socialism and high tax rates are so terrible, then how come the Scandinavian countries, who have incredibly extensive social programs and high taxes, generally have the happiest people and decent economies?

If we were to make the minimum wage decent and liveable (around £9/h) and raise tax by say 5% then people wouldn't be out of pocket and the government would have far more revenue. Obviously it's never that simple, but it seems like giving the minimum wage a boost while raising taxes slightly will keep most people happy and benefit everyone if that extra tax revenue is actually put into infrastructure for the country.

But if you're being paid an amount that makes that easily affordable then it's not an issue, except for when people visit from outside your country.

Also a very brief Google search shows that the average price of a beer in Norway is about £7. Expensive but I'm sure there are some places in London that are about that price!

I am full of admiration for Norway and the way they run their country. Unlike us their Government back in 60s decided to create a sovereign oil fund when they struck oil in the North Sea whereby they put aside billions from the oil revenues. They are now one of the wealthiest countries in the world and their public services are far superior to ours in every way. The other thing is that they only have a population of around 6 to 8 Million people so they can afford to fund these immaculate services! We on the other hand have spunked the oil money and our population has risen to 10 times that of Norway our landmass is roughly half the size!
