Maybe a bit out of character for me, but im hoping someone can reassure me as i keep looking at the table and think we are going down! The games against QPR and sunderland, whilst we see them as winnable, so do they and could easily beat us. Southampton are also very good and will be going all out after losing last week. We are only 1 point above the drop and, if we dont BEAT sunderland, will be in the bottom 3 if they win their game in hand. Come on, someone tell me something positive and that im being stupid.
My thoughts exactly Ed. I thought it was just me being a pessimist. But if you don't believe, what hope have we got!?
Looking at the table, i just still think we are favourites to go down. People forget that when they see QPR and sunderland they think their winnable, yet that is also what they think when they see us and those games are harder than the likes of swansea, west ham etc that have nothing to play for. Biggest game is sunderland... away from home... who pull off good results and have a striker we tried to sign who is bound to score... Someone make me believe again, please!
You're not going down. QPR will be on the beach by the time they come to your place, as they're buried already. You need 1 result, and if you haven't got it by then, then you will on the last day. That said I think you'll get something at Sunderland and they'll take the last remianing place.
Sunderland's game in hand is away to Arsenal. Hopefully Hull will lose by 2 or more goals tonight, which will see us go above them. No one will want to play us at the moment and if we can beat Southampton on Saturday, I think a point at Sunderland will see us safe. JUST KEEP BELIEVING
Ed You're our stalwart of believing & this is no time for you to wobble. Sunderland & QPR are winnable. Sunderland are not pulling off good results, the ref got them 3 points yesterday & they beat Newcastle a month ago. They've won bugger all else in weeks. Anyone getting of to a good start against them & they've capitulated. We are more than capable of doing that. We've a great chance of getting something from the Southampton game. Newcastle are in free fall & face a WBA team that have just beaten MU, no points for them. We're not favourites to go down, we are in form, confident & scoring those all important goals. It is conceivable, yes but from being dead & buried a month ago we've given ourselves a really strong chance of staying up. And I believe we can do it (doesn't mean I'm not a bit nervous, it is us after all). It's tight & there will be more twists, there are a lot of ifs & possible permutations but unless you've had your head in the sand, couldn't resist, you'll have noticed we've just won 5 out of 6 & can keep our momentum going to safety. Come on Ed, you know you want to: I BELIEVE.
I've had exactly the same worries, it will be typical of Southampton to not help us on Saturday and turn us over and then Sunderland who always turn up at the end of the season. I think the only more points we will get could be QPR and who knows if that'll be enough
QPR is your banker. You should be ok, however, you're showing champions league form and you're a million miles from that standard, it would be dangerous thinking to assume you can keep this form up.
We are currently 13/2 to get relegated (that's 7.5 for those who prefer decimals!) That means, £50 on will return £375 to cushion the blow of relegation if it were to happen
No such thing as a banker at this stage of the season, sadly. We're on a good run, it's far from champions league form but we now hope, with good reason to pick up enough points to stay up. Its the bloody hope that kills you but never assume, it makes an ass of u and me.
We only have 3 games left, not impossible to keep the form going until the end of the season. Still be very difficult though
16 points from 18, joint best form in the entire league. Of course it's champions league form. If a team could maintain that all season they'd probability win the league let alone qualify for the champions league. What would you call champions league form?
Of course it's not impossible. My point was like you said, it's will be difficult. Plenty of rolling up of sleeves to be done. Tasty relegation battle this season init? Let's hope Arsenal dick all over Hull tonight.
We would have said it was virtually impossible we would win 5 out of 6 a month ago. Hopefully Southampton play like they did against you on Saturday and all we would need then would be a draw at your place and we should be safe
Southampton walked into our game complacent you could tell, after the 8-0 they thought they'd just need to turn up. They forgot(or didn't acknowledge) that we're extremely difficult to beat. We've only lose 13 games all season and over 50% of our goals have been conceded during thrashing. It's scoring that's been our problem but now we're more effective of penetrating the final 3rd we look like we've got goals in us. We've got a chance of saving our skin. Our form has become steady, looks like the Mags are in most danger. I think you'll be fine and we have a good chance, but anything can happen. You still need a win imo but I think you'll defo get it from QPR, they've only picked up 7 points away from home all season and will be dead and buried. But that's last day and you don't want it going down to the wire if you can help it.
I think you, Newcastle and Hull are in the biggest danger. Hull have to beat Burnley at home and they are their bogey team Newcastle are a complete joke and Sunderland have struggled to win games all season and have difficult fixtures, they have to beat us while we just have to avoid defeat. We will won't go to your place to park the bus because we will lose, we will attack you the same way we have attacked everyone in the last 7 games including Tottenham away and Chelsea at home
If a team maintain it then it is, we've not but we have been having a good run of late was all I meant. I was just trying to agree with your assessment that we're not to that standard. It's not impossible for anyone at the minute, it's going to be difficult alright but we've reason to be hopeful and that's more than we could say a few weeks ago.
