QPR set to make Chris Ramsey manager on permanent basis — even if they are relegated
The Londoners are set to go down but chairman Fernandes has been impressed by work of caretaker boss appointed when Harry Redknapp quit
    • 19 Shares
    • caretaker boss Ramsey next season as the west Londoners look to rebuild.
Rangers, who were beaten 2-1 at Liverpool on Saturday, will be relegated if they lose away to Manchester City next weekend. They have won just two of their 12 matches since Harry Redknapp quit back in February.
But Ramsey is understood to have galvanised the dressing room while it is felt the club have had poor fortune with decisions against them in key matches that have sent them close to the brink.
Rangers had what looked a goal disallowed in their goalless draw at home to West Ham ten days ago.

Denied: QPR suffered another late defeat at Anfield and can be relegated next Sunday
They fought valiantly against Chelsea and looked set for a point until Cesc Fabregas scored just two minutes from time.
And they were also denied two penalties in their 2-1 home defeat to Tottenham. Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris brought down Mauricio Isla and Nabil Bentaleb appeared to block Charlie Austin’s shot with his hands late on.
Les Ferdinand, Rangers’ director of football operations, has given his full backing to Ramsey despite suggestions that the club needed a more experienced manager, with West Ham’s Sam Allardyce mentioned.
In pictures - Liverpool 2-1 QPR:
The club decided even before Redknapp’s departure that they would stage an end-of-season clear-out in order to prepare for next season.
    ,
Striker and top scorer Charlie Austin - coveted by Southampton, Newcastle and Hull - will go with Matt Phillips expected to join him.
Twelve other players, including Joey Barton, Bobby Zamora, Rio Ferdinand, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Clint Hull and Richard Dunne, will also go.
But Ramsey, who helped to develop the likes of Harry Kane, Danny Rose and the rest of Tottenham’s youngsters, is seen as the man able to bring in and brought through the talent capable of rebuilding the team.

And he's cheap. QPR will be 'enjoying' a period of austerity as we head for League One...

I actually want us to lose the next 3 games badly just to make sure he can't get the job.

Les will still want to give it to him no matter how **** he is but hopefully TF might see sense for a change

Don't see how can justify saying that he's galvanised the dressing room when the results have been poorer than under Harry, has made some odd team selections & like Harry seems to have his favourites & alienated others.

Apparently he is the messiah & now going to turn our clearly talent filled youth squad into world beaters over the summer so can storm the Championship next season <doh>

Our Under 21s currently play in the Professional Development U21 League South, which at that level is the equivalent of the old Division 3 South. We are mid-table so do you honestly think we will fill our team with these players who are average at that low level and take the Championship by storm?

I really fear we will do a Wolves and nose-dive into League One...

Further info on the transfer embargo which is an automatic penalty of breaching FFP.

You may not sign any player for a fee, but are allowed to sign free transfers or Bosmans.

You may not sign a loan player on a upfront loan arrangement fee but may sign a loan player on a wages-only basis.

You may sign an emergency goalkeeper on loan as is standard practice.

The length of the embargo is related to the severity of the breach.

So there you have it. Next season and probably the following season we will have a team made up of those players who stay, a few free transfers and probably half of Spurs youth team on loan...

This would be typical TF. A loser will always be a loser.

Change the Manager and the CEO.

Can't see the point in keeping him. Being a "nice bloke" doesn't cut it. Many people like him simply for "not being Harry".

Whilst the tactics have come in to question you need to look deeper.

Look at those who were around and below us a few months ago. The big difference has been us and them has been the step up in performance, the will, the desire ... and the managers ability to get the best out of his team. Ramsey has not done that with any consistency at all.

The main reason Ramsey will stay is financial, our budget will be vastly reduced and to comply with FFP I don't see TF splashing out £3 million a year on Big Sam who won't be able to make any big signings due to our FFP embargo...

Well I like him and think he could be a good long term appointment.

The results have been poor, I accept that, but he's taken over a shambles of a squad. The performances have been far, far better than the results IMO and you can have bad luck over a short period of games.

He's worked with young players for a long time and has an excellent reputation for this. If this khazi of a club is ever going to work and prosper long term, we need to build a team of mostly young players. We could probably throw a load of money at someone like Allardyce and buy some proven 30-year-olds and scrape up again but just pile on the debt of another relegation a year later. We were exceptionally lucky to manage this last season- frankly our promotion was completely undeserved.

We may even get another year out of Phillips and Fer with Ramsey and he's capable of attracting good, young players.

Agree that we won't actually know what's on the agenda until it happens.
I'm a little concerned by this word "galvanised" though, the only galvanised I've seen has been in the fencing around the ground.

I think he's done enough, or not actually, to ensure that already.
