Well, you're not wrong there, Nostalgic. But it would be so much nicer to watch if we weren't constantly bloody in it !!! <laugh> Well done, Dick Advocaat, by the way - we looked dead and buried without him. At least he's asking the right questions. Who'd have thought one month ago that we'd all be buzzing this morning over Jordi Gomez and Danny Graham? <laugh> But the man's done the type of job that has gained him his reputation - I kinda like Advocaat's thinking. I'm a fan. The Leicester and Villa results yesterday haven't helped, but this guy might just get us out of it yet.

Not yet he hasn't Relic. He does seem to have instilled some team spirit though and it was good to see Graham's attitude, gesturing to lift the crowd.

I'd be happier to see some goals scored from open play but beggars can't be choosers so I'll be happy with penalties when they come along.

By the way, love Catts me!! And Seb, but does anyone know why Seb was taken off? Was he injured? Hope not!

With Catts and Seb in midfield, Gomez playing in every game we've won, and Diddle's and Funky's girls both being lucky mascots, we've got a real chance now!

Looked a total liability. You could see Pants shouting for the ball before Coates took him out, later on his pass to the Southampton player was almost a gift. Hear Brown's back in training so shouldn't see Coates next week hopefully.

Let's beat Everton before Leicester first if this happens we could be safe with 2 games to go. Was saying to a m8 of mine on Friday we would beat saints and Everton bit tongue in cheek but 1 down 1 to go

Not sure why the soton match thread, a lot reckon they weren't penalties and that they will get the red rescinded. Both stone wallers and if anything I thought they got off lightly with the first.

I thought the second was a bit iffy. Defoe had lost control of the ball but these things happen so fast it's easy to see how they're given. And it was, so thank **** for that!

To be fair ........ Defoe was in the box, obviously trying to score and the lad who barged him was nowhere near the ball.

It was a foul anywhere else of the pitch, right in front of goal, I dont think you can say Defoe was unable to get a shot away, therefore a definite redimo

I'm only saying it with the benefit of slo-mo on Match of the Day mate. He'd definitely lost control of the ball though.

Doesn't matter though does it. The ref blew and the rest is history.

There shouldn't have been a sending off but they were both penalties 100%

Can'r believe that anyone would even think that these were not both stonewall pens...The only thing that the ref got wrong with this

was not sending the Southampton player off for the first one..

Agree totally. There was a free kick edge of the box when. van Aanholt burst through. He only had the keeper to beat but neither of the two players which cynically took him out were booked. But billy Jones got a yellow for a foul 40 yards from goal with 5 players behind him and Cattermole got booked for absolutely nothing other than their player play acting

The lad played well but doesn't look like scoring tho.

Cattermole for me but understand why people would say graham.

Agree totally, and I'm not the sort that refuses to admit when the ref has got it wrong and given us something he shouldn't have.

The fact that Defoe had a bad first touch is neither here nor there. He was in front of goal and the Southampton lad took him out without any attempt to play the ball. Pen and red.

An attacking player can be just in the penalty box, surrounded by opposition players, going nowhere, even with his back to the goal - and if he's fouled it's a pen.

The first pen was a dreadful challenge and should have been a red.

Can't believe we are discussing the penalties. We spent more time in their penalty are with more playersw in and around the box than the last half dozen games put together. Pressure forced the defenders into rash challenges - something not in our game all season.
