It's probably unlikely i know but we are in with a slight chance of 7th place if results go our way, the final 3 games for the saints are:- Leicester ....Away..... The foxes are on a roll and are capable of wining this at home. Villa....Home.....This game should be a saints win but you never know with villa on what team they put out... Man city .....away..... I cant see man city wanting to end the season with a home loss. If we can win all our remaining games then you never know we may just do it.........COYS
It's a great target to aim for, probably a couple of games short of reaching them though. We'll finish 2 points behind them imo.
If Bony hadn't have been sent off against Southampton, we would probably have won that game, meaning that we would be above them in the table this evening. That said, it's all ifs, buts and maybes - what do they say, if my grandmother had a pair of b******s........
I will give credit to the saints as they have had a fantastic season especially when it was not expected after losing so many good players......A bit like us really with us not expected to do well. We were both many fans and pundits favorites to be relegated so for us both to finish as No 1 & 2 of the also rans then both sets of fans can be well proud of whatever position we end the season with.....imo
I don't think we're ready for Europe eighth place will do me fine this year...just look at Everton and hull
If we set targets to reach Europe each season and just fail slightly I will be happy. The problem with playing in Europe is that it has a knock on effect in the league. Think I'm happy to stay in the top ten the entire season
Don't really want to finish ahead of Southampton if it means Europa league football. This league puts far too much pressure on the clubs playing squad as the past seasons have proved. The vast majority of clubs involved in the Europa league go on to have a poor season. There's not much money to be made either, so no for me, let's finish outside the the Europa league places and go on strengthening the squad and maybe in a couple of seasons we'll be ready.
Miss out this year, hopefully qualify next year. With the mega-TV rights deal in place from 2016-17, we should have the funds to adequately expand the squad for a Europa League campaign during that season.
We have no chance, sorry to be negative. I don't believe we will reach the 57 points Southampton are on now. I see maybe 2 more draws or 1 win before the end of the season. I actually don't think getting 7th would help us at all. We struggled last season to deal with Europa league as have Everton this. Staying in the PL next season with the increase in TV money is far more important.
If we have a chance of European football at anytime whether its this season or future seasons then we grab it with both hands. as soon as an oppertunity arises then grab it as you never know if the chance will ever arise again.....Europe is where clubs want to be and we are no different.
Not for me sorry. Would rather concentrate on the league for now until we grow as a club. We don't have a strong enough squad to deal with both and certainly wouldn't win it, so too much risk for very little reward. I enjoyed the away days last time out but not enough to be flirting with relegation again.
If we do end up there then let's give it a good go. However I don't think it will happen and it won't disappoint me. If we get a few good additions in the summer then maybe we could push for it next season.
