Chelsea winning the championship today, congratulations to them. Chelsea are playing Liverpool next, and I do not think they are going to take their feet off the pedal simply because they are no longer under pressure. Liverpool have a slim hope of champion league depending on Manchester United results. We have three tough games to crack all are not easy 1.10 May Chelsea v Liverpool 2.16 May Liverpool v Crystal Palace 3.24 May Stoke v Liverpool Maximum points 9, How many we're going to get?. Have we left it too late?. Have to do it the hard way.
Yes it's too late but we can turn a negative into a positive Instead of having our squad spread thin between PL and CL again, we can use the EL to develop the younger players Meanwhile we get to watch Van Gaal get humiliated in the CL
Chelsea losing at home in the league under Mourinho? That's the tricky part; other than that I don't see why not. I could see the following happening... Week 1 - Liverpool win, United draw - gap down to 2 points Week 2 Liverpool win, United draw - both now level on points - United ahead on goal difference Final week - last game of the season.... Obviously hoping that we can kill this bollox off next week with a Liverpool draw/loss to Chelsea and a United win, but I think anything is possible right now. FFS!
Hopefully palace continue to cause issues next week for you. You guys always beat arsenal though so can see you winning that. A a win and a draw would need you ddrawing the final game against hull I think... (Assuming we've won both our games). No doubt Agent Bruce will roll over for you if things start going wrong though
Thing is Hull is a guaranteed win for Man Utd, so we've got to hope Man Utd lose at least 1 of their next 2 games, and don't win either of them. That's unlikely in itself. Then we've got to win 3 games on the bounce including beating Chelsea at home under Mourinho, and we all know how good his league home record is. Which is even more unlikely. We're better concentrating on getting 5th place, which saves us having to go through any Europa qualifiers, I believe?
In isolation, beating Arsenal or Hull is usually something I'd be confident about. BUT the order of the games is what's going to cause us problems. If we drop points against Palace (and Liverpool win) who then has the pressure??? United imo. That puts a completely different context on the Arsenal game....and then on the Hull game. And Hull could be fighting for Prem survival as well.
If villa win the cup then they go into the groups and we go into the last qualifying while 6th place goes into early quals. If arsenal win then 5th goes groups 6th last qual and 7th early quals. Sours losing today opens up a 3 point gap to 6th so couple more wins should secure that spot.
True but on the other hand you play Palace a day before we play Chelsea, so there'll be pressure on us to win if you do lose. And we've seen this season every 'must win' game we've had so far we haven't won, and usually lost.
We have been our own worst enemy, looking to Leicester at home, we were only able to get a draw(lucky we did not lose) United at home, I was expecting a win and so on. United current poor form should be icing on the cake for us, but cannot take advantage, have to depend on other result now. If Brendan Rodgers is the manager next season he should go for a course on "pressure management"
We had nothing to play for.... Bottling it happens when the pressures on, like you did against the same opponent at Wembley
For all his "pass the ball to death" LVG could have achieved 4th by playing that way and getting 3 draws against Chelsea, Everton and West Brom
You could have won the title if he'd stuck to your best tactic every game of just whacking it long to fellaini... it's only when you've tried to play football that you've lost
