Does Rio Ferdinand ever talk about QPR?

Given what he's been going through its hardly a surprise he's been poor

Crap signing by Harry yes. He was a great footballer , now clearly past his best. A dislikeable bloke? I don't know him so I have no reason to say that, and right now he needs all the support we can give him.

Agree Oslo. If there is a minutes silence today, I hope the Liverpool fans leave the scouse/Manc rivalry to one side and show some respect.

 

A number of posters have been apologising for previous comments they had made about Rio, and I can understand why, but I don't think it is necessary. An apology suggests culpability, and there can be none, because none of us knew what was going on in Rio's life, and indeed, for Rio's own totally understandable reasons, the true facts were held back from the public.

We can't comment on players on this site, while exercising a special caution in case a player has a tragedy in his life that we don't know about.

What I can do is say is that, knowing what I know now about Rio's circumstances and the tragic death of his young wife, I regret what I have written about his recent performances, commitment etc. And I withdraw my comments unreservedly.

 

I don't really see why. What has happened to Ferdinand the man, husband and father is terrible and wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

It doesn't change my views on him as an employee of QPR. I dare say as we all spare a moment for him today at some point, it's a whole lot more than he's thought about this club.

That's fair comment, Col. I just wanted to say that no one should beat themselves up about it, and posters should continue to give their opinions freely. I don't see there are any lessons to be learned. None of us are clairvoyant.

 

Totally agree. There's a lot of incorrect sentiments written on the RIP thread but its not correct to go near that thread with any objection. Best leave it at that.

I agree but I think that should also apply to people on the RIP thread saying they're speaking for everyone who slated his performances. They're not.
