Has anyone ever played worse than Riviere? He is utter garbage.

What does it take with this club? Carver saying he's here for another half a decade, I mean he shouldn't be here for 5 more minutes.

 

I know the players have largely been at fault for the goals today. But the fact Carver said defending set pieces is our achilles heel, shows he isn't capable of coaching properly. It goes back to Pardews reign, our inability to attack or defend set pieces. But the fact we are more porous then a sive, has to be largely down to poor coaching.

I don't even know why I bother thinking about any of this useless stuff anymore.

Partly. You can only go so far with coaching though. You need players who want to win those battles. They want to attack the ball. We have Williamson and no one else, and Willo is just way short athletically. Look at Riviere, Colo and Sissoko - they don't want to know. No amount of coaching will give them a heart.

I appreciate that our players are limited, but is about getting the best out of what you have. Motivation is a big factor and Carver clearly can't motivate anyone in our squad. It's also about getting players to play to their strengths. He admitted that he doesn't know why Williamson always hoofs the ball upfield. If that's the case, drop him. Play Satka, play anyone. Surely a coach has to work with what he's got?! Are Morgan and Huth better than Colo and Willo? I don't mean on current form, but ability wise. They work to their strengths and appear to have a clear understanding of what is expected of them.

Anyway, at least Willo won't be playing in the next couple games. Hopefully never again.
