Comparison with Zaki PURELY in terms of what they did/have done for HCFC: Ricardo Vaz Te No Idea as he hardly had a chance to assess Jon Parkin DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ZAKI Sonko ON A PAR Macca DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ZAKI Harper DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ZAKI Simon Walton ON A PAR Daryl Duffy ON A PAR Garica DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ZAKI Manucho ON A PAR Mclean DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ZAKI Kilbane(when on left wing, left back was okay) DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ZAKI Cullen DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ZAKI Altidore DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ZAKI Bridges ON A PAR Sam Collins DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ZAKI Danny Coles ON A PAR Rowan Vine ON A PAR Ryan France DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ZAKI Ben Burgess DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ZAKI Bernard Mendy DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ZAKI The only one who comes anywhere near being worse than Amir Zaki, IMHO, is Manucho, but even he managed to score a goal that went a long way toward keeping us up. In terms of what is produced as compared with what was expected Amir Zaki has to have been one of the biggest disappointments of all time. Players on the list above may have been less technically gifted, but still managed to show some fight and desire and produce something for the Club.
I did mine, on the quality of the players all in all, when at other clubs also(in Zaki's case Wigan) so I thought more about how most of those players would do in the Premier League.
If you're comparing how those players would perform in the Premier League, then Zaki's record of 10 goals in 35 Premier League games stuffs the rest.
Seconded. Was just reading through this thread and wondering if anyone would mention Andy Brown. Proper ****e.
This thread is getting ridiculous if you are talking about players who were rubbish or good BEFORE they joined HCFC. I suppose on of the worst BEFORE joining would have to be Billy Whitehurst who came from Mexborough Town. Indeed he was shyte for a long while after joining us as well. But he fashioned a way to play that was EXTREMELY effective.
It was just the once when I was asked to name the 20 worse then Zaki, he only started about one game for us and not suprising seeing the size of the man.
Totally agree. I think you have to go back 10 years or more and remember the really poor players we had on the books. That was a time when, if any of the normal line up got injured, the manager went straight out and got a short term loan. We dare not play anyone from the rest of the squad. Very scary.
I do. Seemed like he would never score for us after we signed him from Millwall. First goal (at least the first I remember) was a backheel from about 1 yard following a goalmouth scramble. About as successful as Alan Warboys.
Anyone remember Paul Wharton? A Dolan signing from Leeds I think. The only appearance of his I can remember was as a sub in a game where a bit of brawl broke out. Wharton ran up behind someone and booted them up the arse and got sent off.
Was he the guy that was about 5 foot tall in his boots? We made two signings from Leeds around that time and I can't remember the other guy's name.
too right, as I said before, these players would walk into a L1 or L2 team. It's all comparative, I think we have to categoroze them into "worst L2 player", to "worst PL player", besides it's quite cruel to some of them who despite being limited, put in a shift..
Darly duffy, was terrible and if i remember there was quite a bit of hype surrounding his transfer, flopped bigger than a 25st red neck at the annual red neck mud dive
Jamie Marks signed with Wharton. Both were ****e. Chris Lee is the worst player to pull on a city shirt, picked every week cos his dad was assistant manager.
Yep, that was him - nice one. Both stood out as particularly ****e in a team full of ****e players at that time.
