Saw them live in Grenoble a few years back, with all the uni kids there I felt old..but then at the Dylan gig shortly aftewards I felt young again.. jump to this year and James Taylor and I feel like a spring chicken.. or perhaps a baby osterich
Interesting musical choices but i don't see a Yorkshire connection in quite a few of them. Maybe I'm missing something.
Ignore the Geordie ones, but does this help? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bands_and_musicians_from_Yorkshire_and_North_East_England
Don't point that out. You'll get called a pedantic twat by some thick sods who post songs by scouser and Frogs on a thread about Yorkshire music. No doubt they will post dogs by the Stones and Kinks on Merseybeat night and the Animal and The Beatles on London music night.
Don't need to be in a ****ty mood to wonder about the mental deficiency of people who post songs from Scousers and Frogs on a Yorkshire music thread. It wasn't headed Music From Any ****ing Where Night. Wait for Soul night when they post clips from Freddie and the Dreamers and Cilla Black.
Anyway, getting back to Yorkshire music, do you remember Bill Oddie doing this? I think it was on Broaden Your Mind with the other two Goodies in pre Goodies Days. He did it with the Grease Band and the two lasses on the Joe Cocker record.
The music threads, if I remember rightly, started as a laugh to find a reason to play some good tunes on Friday night. Sticking a theme in was merely a way of making playing the same good tunes more interesting. No rules were ever set out as to what defines a link to the theme or how serious or close to the theme a link should be. The more stretched or obscure link, the better. In this thread I can see a link to both Edith & Lennon based on the thread title, if others can't don't let it become a stress. It's an end of the week music thread which should be helping you to unwind & prepare for the weekend. It's just a laugh.
