Been thinking, relegation might not be too bad of a thing.

Dreadfully pee'd off with the state of the club I love at the moment. Ashley has sucked all the ambition and life out of the club to the extent a lot of fans are now immune to the ****e we are going through. There's no way he would consider selling up with the amount of cash he gets from the TV, not to mention the free advertising. A few thousand not going to games has little effect, nor does Newcastle fans boycotting sports direct. If we were relegated, he would lose massively through tv rights. Coupled with a well supported boycott and gates around 25 to 30k, surely he would be forced to sell.

Hate to say it, I'm black and white through and through, but personally, I'd welcome it.

8 years ago Sir John Hall said he was selling to this man whose sole intention was to use the club as an advertising platform. Within a year this bloke had gotten us relegated so had to pull out some stops to really see his ideas come to fruition. Subsequent global advertising, paid for by Sky and BT, has seen profits in Sports Direct soar to unprecedented heights and the final stop, more or less, is America. Everyone wants to break America. He doesn't need Sky/BT to break America, but he does need Newcastle United to introduce the brand, hence the tour this year. If you recall, we were supposed to tour the US TWICE before, but they broke down, so now he can penetrate the US market with this shambles of a football club this year.

The problem with it all is there's no guarantee he'll go if we go down. What is guaranteed is Carver will remain in charge if we go down. There's no simple answer at NUFC. The best answer of all is for the current owner to have a biblical-sized epiphany and simply invest the clubs money into itself, employ a fit-for-purpose MD, DoF and manager, then let it be a decent, moderately ambitious side. It's not even fcking difficult and won't cost the fat idiot any more money. It beggars all belief that he won't just do the fundamentals.

I don't think will be going anywhere regardless of division.

I'm not bothered either way about going down though. This whole fascination with PL does nowt for me.

I'm not so sure it would mean he goes.

I actually enjoyed the Championship season in terms of the banter with real fans. Although it's easy to say now when we were winning most of the time. I fear if we go down this season it will be a very long haul back that could take years and might even mean a further drop before things get better.

But I still doubt that Ashley would walk the instant we drop out of the Prem so I don't believe it will truly help those clinging on to this hope.

No would never want relegation. Would never want to lose a game no matter the circumstance!

Whereas I'm not bothered about going down, this still stands up for me. I want us to win every game regardless of the situation or consequences.

I said this in another thread, but I reckon relegation would make it far less likely that Ashley ever leaves!

If we get relegated this time we will do a Forest or Leeds.

I agree with this. if sunderland pick up points tomorrow against Southampton I think we'll go through the trap door and will struggle to get back up. impossible if carver stays at the helm.

Have to disagree relegation would be a nightmare. If/when we go down we won't come straight back up we haven't got the type of players to do it like we had then.

Ashley isn't going to sell unless someone comes in with a rediculus offer regardless of the division we are in and we all know that isn't going to happen

We get relegated, the club is worth £200m or more less than if we remain in the Premier League and if sold Ashley makes a huge loss. It won't happen; Ashley will not accept a loss on his investment; he will not give away £200m. He would make sure we got promoted again and it would be a lot easier than people think considering our huge financial clout compared to other Championship clubs (all of them). There is no benefit to us getting relegated whatsoever, other than we will have another one off season where we win lots of matches, but we will be set back 6 years and starting again.

Agree with this. The one thing ashley is is a hard nosed businessman so he wants the club earning as much as possible, getting the most exposure and worth its maximum. He will plough the money needed to get us back in Premier league. He just miscalculated this year.

I think it all depends if you only want the club to play in the PL. The reasoning given is we won't come straight back up. Not the end of the world for me. To be fair I'm not as fussed anymore.

You don't seem your usual self these days Pouchy. You only seem to get excited 2 or 3 days each month. Usually around the full moon.

Mike has won. I find it much more relaxing to ignore it all and think of obscure birds to call people

We haven't moved forward in the last 6 years in any respect.
