CHILL is a horse that I thought a few years ago was on the cusp of something big but ultimately he has failed to deliver in some style. As my regular readers may recall I made him my banker for the Cheltenham Festival back in ’12 and although he didn’t run bad by any means (6th in ‘Fred Winter’) he hasn’t won in 21 subsequent races.

He’s now left the Hughes barn, across the water, and is now with Mr Henderson (although not THAT Mr Henderson). Chill showed very little in 3 NH starts for his new yard, in the 2014/15 term, but I find it very hard to accept that he couldn’t do some damage tomorrow off just 65. In the past 18 months the old boy has run just twice on the level with form figures of -24. A reproduction of that runner-up performance would not see him that far away in my opinion (as the winner that day has won his only other Flat race whilst the 5th home, that day, has ran in 2 more Flat races and won both, I say both, of them) as the race has a very solid look and Chill is now on a perch 2 lbs lower than that.

Sporting Life make Chill the 25/1 complete outsider of 14 tomorrow but he has the back form to outrun those odds and might be worthy of a small each-way tickle in the card commencer (1.40).

14.15 I like the look of Criteria and Lustrous with Tanasha to fill the places. That narrows it down for you

I would have thought course form might count for a bit at Goodwood with it's undulating nature and the switchback. Luca Cumani's Jordan Princess in the 2.15 is a C&D winner and managed to finish within 6 lengths of Taghrooda in the Pretty Polly stakes this time last year. Apart from that, I have a feeling that Tom Queally might have a decent day, 4 years after blowing our minds with Frankel in the Guineas. Majestic Moon in the 2.50 and Jupiter Custos in the 4.40 are the 2 which stand out to me.

Have a great day Woolly <ok>
