I did the Turkish barber thing a number of years ago now when on holiday in Turkey. My face never felt as smooth since I had been about 12!
Bloody terrifying mind - the bloke never stopped jabbering on to his mates and barely seemed to be looking when he was waving the cut throat around. Only had my face done not the head. The ears burning thing looks a whole lot worse than it is, I don't recall feeling a thing.
I would recommend it, although a couple of beers before you go in wouldn't go amiss!!!

Similar to Riever. Go for it!

I'm a hairy bugger! If I'm going out in the evening I need to shave twice that day!

After that experience didn't shave for a coupe of days.

And once had a shave in Saudi just like something out of a western movie. Best shave I ever had!

Worked in the Syrian desert late 80's, near the job in a 1 horse mud-brick village with this awesome looking barber shop, proper adjustable leather chairs, white dentist like smock tops etc. shave, ear burning etc was top notch experience

Sounds just like Saudi mate. Bizarre thing was, he was a chinese guy in the back end of nowhere. All that was missing was somewhere to tie your horse.

Mr Jerry goes to a Ottoman Barbers on Derwent Street.
Was there yesterday. Canny haircut and no cuts, but they use wax on ear and nose hair.

The ear and nose burning is painless mate, just leaves a singes hair smell up your nose for a bit afterwards, but as all have said, go for it.

If you prefer English, go to Reds on Durham road, there's a good Mackem supporter upstairs to the women's bit, he does a cracking job.

I had a hair cut and a shave down in the Congo earlier this year off a guy who didn't speak a word of English. I just pointed to a picture of George Clooney hanging on the wall and said, make me look like that. The twat obviously hadn't seen Oceans 11 :(

Had this done uears ago. Best shave ever, plus the old ear and nose fire stick helped clear out the hangover, better than a bloody mary!
