The main problem will be differences in vocabulary...be harder for a person from the past to follow us than for us to follow them I would think. I don't know, but suspect that lots of words we use have appeared in the past century. And the meanings change as well. As for accents, I read an article that suggested colonies keep the accent of the time, whereas the accent of the home country changes to a greater degree.

I can still recite the introduction to the Canterbury Tales in Olde English. It's about the only thing I (weirdly) remember from school...

Quack. Quack. Quack. 3 ducks in 4 innings for Trott on his England return.

Okay, so today I got to spend the best part of 20 minutes doing a one-on-one interview with Lawrie McMenemy.

    What a man. :)

Also interviewed Nick Holmes, Hugh Fisher and Paul Bennett. Will type them up and share.

Middle English I think LTL, unless your teacher was a complete sadist. OE was a few hundred years earlier, more your Beowulf and Anglo Saxon Chronicles

"Oh oh Lawrie Mac, when are you coming back" - I actually sung that on the radio to Lawrie Mac when he had a brief stint on Talk Sport back in about 1999

how do you feel about the EPL team of the year? You know the only reason Bertrand is in there is because for most of the season he was a Chelsea loanee. It's a shame you couldn't quite make the top four, if legitimate goals had stood and fair amounts of injury time had been played, Man U would have 4 less points from us.

Fonte has had a far better season than Cahill. That's the main issue I have. Shame Morgan and Clyne weren't in it as well.

About to offend 2 groups of fans now....have to keep muting Sky because of the Mayweather fight and the American football draft. Called it the Mayweather fight because I can't spell the other chaps name....never let him sign for Saints :) I know it's an important fight and I hope Mayweather loses...got as far as working that out....but it is going on and on. And as for the draft...too many over excited Americans and throw in Jim White.....need I say more. Luckily both will soon be over and there is football on later.

The fight is not an important fight. It would have been possibly the biggest and best fight ever if it had been held several years ago. I'm interested in it, but it's bullshit and commercial now, rather than two superb fighters taking each other on at their absolute best. If boxing was better 'organised' in terms of a competition structure, you'd have had this fight years back.

As for the draft; well it makes the transfer windows look sane.

My daughter is delighted that she can unlock my wife's I-phone (finger print recognition) by using her big toe! Seriously.

    http://news.sky.com/story/1476280/death-row-inmate-likely-to-die-by-nitrogen-gas

Discussions going on in America about painless executions. I must state that I am against capital punishment, but why is making it painless so hard. People are going to Switzerland for a painless suicide. It has something to do with the difficulty of getting the drugs as the pharmaceutical companies understandably don't want to be linked to it, but there must be some drugs out of patent. Now talking about using nitrogen. I'm glad British courts don't have to hold serious discussions about how best to murder people.

Finally got my voter registration confirmed. Now for some weekend reading, the Manifestos of the Greens, Conservatives, Lib Dems and Labour for some quantitative discourse analysis!

Would be funny if you didn't think that at this moment someone isn't going, 'Wow, that's great.' :)
