Good for competition for Sinclair and Dyer but still not sure about this move. He's never proven himself at premiership level, always falling short of quality when he's been given a chance so wonder how better he would fare with us. Think £1.5m is a bit steep to be honest.

I'd be tempted to disagree, MasterOfNone. 1.5mil is about as cheap as we'll land anyone in the Premiership, and the guy blatantly has technique. Agreed, he's never proven himself at the top level, but he hasn't played for a team like the Swans before. As cover for Dyer and Sinclair, I think he'd be perfect as long as he knuckled down and tracked back.

Dont think we'll let him go to you unless we sort out the Neil Taylor wrangle. Routledge will do alright for a side fighting relegation (no offence), especially if you think he'd only be back up <ok>

I don't think your board are that short-sighted. If they want to sell him then they will. They aren't going to let a deal for another player make a difference.

I think we're the kind of team that can bring out the best in a player that hasn't yet fulfilled his potential. That said, I really hope it's not linked to a move for Taylor. That leaves a gaping hole in our squad imo.

So another winger plus have we any intentions of keeping Cotterill this season or letting him go.

Thing is Rhys, we had a steal with Sinclair, lets face it, he was worth a lot more than that on his first day.... 1.5M seems fair considering what players cost these days..

Do have small concerns though if he's not good enough for anyone else - Just hope that purse strings are not hindering our transfer options too much.

    :)

Straight trade for Taylor , then sell Routledge to help finance that new left back that's surely coming in even if Taylor stays .

If anyone can get the best out of young talent then it has to be Brendan. He's a shrewd man though and will have seen something in Routledge to have got Jenkins to put in an official bid.

Cotterill on the other hand has frustrated both his manager and the fans with his attitude despite his obvious talent, the guy can play if and when he feels like it but got short shrift when sent out to Pompey in the second half of the season. Maybe will be given one more chance but if he doesn't make the grade will be out of our squad sooner rather than later.

He hasn't proven himself at top level like people have stated, but then again neither has anyone else in the Swans squad..

Whenever he played against us he has always been a threat so going by that he is good enough for buck to place into our system and turn him into a potent threat for us, and he will be out to prove a lot of people wrong. bring him in :D

i think we all know the guy is a good player. brendan had enough faith in sinclare to bring him in when he was thought of as a loanee by chelsea. look at what he's achieved. we'll need depth this season so he's an option. then we can sell him to liverpool for £35m lol.

"...if Taylor was to go the other plus a million why not?"

Er....because if we are not going to get thrashed week after week we must have a decent defence. If you can't defend in this League you are going get buried. If we lose Taylor we have Tate (yikes) or Jazz Richards (double yikes) to go in at left back. Whereas Tate is a decent utility stand-in and Richards has some potential we will get pasted down the right every game if either are first choice.

Considering the fact that we are now a premiership side the prices we will have to pay for players will be inflated, on this basis I think £1.5 million is a good amount for a guy with (what could be percieved as) untapped potential and we all know buck does a good job at getting that potential realised. He has the abiliity then to provide competition and not just cover for dyer and sinclair
