Earlier today I was interviewed on SunFM (Sunderland FM) by former Sunderland striker Michael Proctor and Richard Mason of The Northern Echo, as part of the station's football show. I was invited onto the show to preview Saturday's game, as well as talk youth development, Pochettino and those who defected, Koeman, the 'Director of Football' concept and a couple of other bits and bobs about Saints. Would appreciate you tuning in and letting me know what you thought! I'm on from 12:08: http://www.sun-fm.com/of-into-the-light-with-michael-proctor-.php
Our away form has gone off the boil a little so any point would be a good one, although three would be great. I think Sunderland will either be dogged or dreadful. Their midfield looks ok but they are not scoring.
Here's my preview: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/content.php?604-PREVIEW-Sunderland-vs-SAINTS-Barclays-Premier-League
Shame that Tadic has been carrying an injury for so long....we saw how good he can be at the beginning of the season. He has been a shadow of himself recently. Let's hope that resting him will clear up his 'groan' problem and he is back to his best for next season. Spider is a huge loss...be interesting to see how we do in the last few games without him. I presume Toby will play in midfield now #praytokeeptoby.
I see that Koeman finds it hard to speak other than the truth. Faced with Les Reed's comments about players leaving and Champions' League ambitions, he is more pragmatic. I don't know if Les really believes Clyne will sign a new contract or is just stating the present position (which is very similar to last summer), but Koeman obviously just wants a quick answer and doesn't sound hopeful. Ron seems unsurprised by anything in football. As for CL ambition, he knows it will be very hard. We not only have to play our best, but need the top clubs to be inconsistent....which was the case this season. I think our best chance was this season and possibly the next before other teams sort themselves out.
So William Hill offer shorter odds on Tadic, Djuricic or Gallagher to score than any Sunderland player The odds appear to be in our favour YoooooReds
Merson gone for 1-3 to Saints....thinks Sunderland will have to open up and that will play into our hands. In theory I agree, but never underestimate desperate men. Sunderland has a terrible run out and, probably sadly for them, this game must be regarded as their best hope.
Met up with Sunderland mate today. Resigned to relegation. Hopes for a late 1-0 for them, an own goal would be poetic! Doesn't think Dick will be there next season. Giving him a lift to the match. Difficult return journey for one of us? Just hope we turn up this season.
http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/arti...llery-pre-sunderland-southampton-2433828.aspx Training gallery. One shot of Mayuka...so he must be on his way back to fitness.
Mayuka? He still exists? What a waste of wages and transfer fees he's turned out to be. I would say get rid, but he's another body for europe's conquerors next year, right?
We have had a few duds brought in, but I never blame the player if they do their best....the fault lies with the team buying them. Perhaps the Black Box was having teething problems....the ones bought recently have been more successful.
At Sheff Utd away when he came on as sub he was shocking, thought it was Ali Dia!! Said at the time would be surprised if he ever played another game for us. Would prefer to give experience to youngsters in Europe than Mayuka, he's been here a while now and hardly even threatens the sub bench?
