Well, I am sincerely sorry that someone like yourself will be down to half a dozen games next season. You clearly deserve better. Hey, can I tell you a quick story that's relevant to what we've been talking about? I hadn't thought of it before.

I once read in a boys football annual, a player talking about Len Shackleton. Apparently, Len had taken him to one side and said "See them men up there? One half of them work all week under ground. And the other half work on the riverside building ships in all weathers. They come here on their day off, and pay us our wages. And all they ask in return is something to talk about on Monday morning." I never forgot that. That to me is the proper relationship between fan and player. We give them their livelihood, they give us something back, and we end up loving each other. I look at this lot today, and it's over. That link has gone.

I've not lived in the NE since I was 7 years old, never been closer than 130 miles & for over a decade was 1000 miles away.
I've never stopped going and never will, I feel sorry for anyone who's lost the connection tbh.

But once they have I've noticed a tendency to do a 'Steve Bruce' ........ make out things were always better 'in their day' and moan about the club now.
