The main advantage to Klopp is that he is a bigger name than Rodgers, so without CL will pull in better players. Plus Imagine if he could poach us some gems from Bundesliga?? Tactically however I don't think he would offer much more, I don't see how a great manager could get themselves in the position that Klopp has found himself in this season. He's done worse than Rodgers this season that's for sure.
What's funnier is you pretending to know anything about Klopp, his tactics, and Dortmund other than what you have read on BBC and seen in the odd CL game and heard from sky pundits #busteeed
or you lot calling the german league "****ter" when only yesterday we were saying the spanish league was better than the english league due to them just oding better than enlgish clubs... well..... what exacly have german clubs done lately... hmm lets see. took italys 4th place for CL. closing in on england in 2nd place in uefa country we are 80.391 right now. they are 79.129. next year the "****ter league" will have over 5 years topped our league. so who's doing what. our biggest clubs crap out. only cheslea even look like getting to QF year on year... and mancs will boast form a position of rebuilding they could do all sorts but when did they last? in contrast... Last year all german clubs got to knockouts but shalke then dortmund then bayrn all lost to Real madrid who won the thing. leverkusen who were not grea tlost to PSG Bayern are in semis. Dortmund lost in round of 16 to juve.... leverkusen to atletico... shalke lost to real in last 16 too. AMAZING NEWS... this is just amazing guys. the **** league is as good as the english league in europe.... HMMMMMMMM.... how did this happen? is the english league just full of money and crap.
Dortmund are only 3 points off Europe league qualification, hardly much worse than us. Dortmund beat Bayern on the weekend to qualify for the cup final, better than us. Dortmund got through to the knockout stages of the champions league, better than us. Yet people think we have had a better season then them comparatively....
I believe Rodgers can be a great tactician and man manager. He also seems to ride the pressure of management well. BUT, his signings have let him down, and his biggest error of all, he has failed to build an established spine to his team. He relied to heavily on his attacking stars and did not build a spine behind them. When the key attacking star leaves and another gets injured that lack of a spine get exposed. Compare Rodgers first 2 years to Rafa's. In Rafa's first 2 years he established Carragher as his lead CB, gave Gerrard a free role and signed Reina, Agger, Alonso and Sissoko (who was upgraded to Mascherano shortly after), giving him a solid spine of Reina, Carragher, Agger, Sissoko, Alonso and Gerrard. His attackers were Crouch, Morientes, Cisse and Fowler, who did not score many, but the spine made sure the team was solid, controlled games and was hard to beat. Once Torres was added we were title competitors. Rodgers had a great attack of Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho, who banged in the goals. But behind them was a makeshift and ever changing 'spine that conceded a stupid amount of goals. Our spine has actually started to come together this season with Henderson and Sakho stepping up, Mignolet improving and Sakho estabishing himself as lead CB. Now we Rodgers need to fill the gaps. If he priorities flair players or more attackers like Markovic, Lallana, Balotelli and Lambert he will fail. Lovren was kind of the right idea but he chose the wrong player.
You make some good points. I think his biggest mistake was choosing to buy pick n mix because he didn't really know what he wanted.
Yeah. Rafa came in with a system in mind that suited our 2 key players and built it. Rodgers had a system in mind but when it did not suit our players he adjusted it, and when it stopped working he changed it again, and again and again. The one thing each generation of Rodgers systems have in common is they revolve around 1 or 2 players. Suarez and Gerrard, Suarez and Sturridge, Sturridge and Gerrard, Coutinho. One player has been declining with age, another is injury prone, one left and Coutinho is the current carrier. No spine. Most teams have 1 or 2 key players. But the top teams also have a top spine. He should have built a spine from day 1 for Suarez to play off.
Exactly. Well said. PL is certainly exciting to watch in terms of it's competitiveness but the actual quality of football is embarrassing. ---------------- Also, Klopp is a great tactician - he has built sides which are defensively sound, aggressive in attack and blistering in its counter. Again, achieved on a budget and with selling their best players every year.
Rafa had a consistent style/philosophy which was to build from the back, and have a compact team which is hard to break down, and dominates the midfield. Rodgers doesn't have anything - he chops and changes far too much. There is no underlying philosophy. How can the players be expected to execute plans when they're constantly changing?
to be fair it's not ****e. I have used that term, it's just a lazy way of saying that outside of the certain few teams there is not much of a chance for the rest but the same can be said of all leagues. There is so much less money in German football, but looking at their national side, and their rep in Europe, less money is not equal to less quality. Same can be said of Spain, both their leagues are mostly players from that country.
The philosophy is maintain possession at all risks. Your opponent can't score if they don't have the ball. Of course, the player we currently have aren't as good as Barcelona's so it is not working quite as effectively as he planned
germans don't like spending moeny just beacuse... they are funny that way unlike the spanish, greeks, irish nations.... and english football clubs. There's plenty of cash for what they want and honestly I think there's far too much money sloshing about our league for our own good. I agree more quality exists simply because is more honest IMO. If a kid gets 20k a week they are a millionaire on paper before they are 20. they never bother their arses again. Would you or i at that age?
Agree MITO I also think all that money that they get paid regardless of whether they play or not is ridiculous. Wages need to be based on if you play ect and how well you play. Then you won't get the half arsed performances that are rife throughout the PL.
