Everyone I know who either works for the NHS or uses it agrees that the service has deteriorated over the past five years, particularly in regard to waiting times. The Tories shout about it simply because it is the best way of throwing up a smokescreen. All they are interested in is their wealthy supporters getting even richer. Just look at the rich list published last week, many of the richest in society are gaining more wealth at an incredible pace. What is the point in it?

Did I imagine the 20 billion cut NHS wide demanded by the Tories? Did I imagine the wage freezes? Did I imagine staff losing their jobs over the last five years? Oh and I must have imagined the Francis scandal. And of course the increase in Bank staff because experienced nurses were too expensive. However, whatever political party gets in the NHS is pretty screwed, the sums of money pkledged will not be enough and quality of care has been compromised and will continue to be so . At the moment, no party is actually going to make a difference to the NHS that will lead to improved services.

Did I imagine the Mid Staffs Hospital Scandal or the scandal of the NHS in Wales which is controlled by a Labour Assembly? We can all point to incidents on both sides which is hardly the point! In my opinion the NHS should be taken out of all political control so that it is not used as a political football which ends up serving no ones best interests!

As a public sector entity, the NHS is the most cost-effective medical service in the world. That much is absolutely a fact.

As a result of ongoing privatisation, it is dropping down the league tables.

As a result of the huge debt burden placed under the PFI contracts that were drawn up 10 years ago more like! <ok>

PFI is a big part of it, yes.

The plans that both the Tories and Labour have for healthcare in the UK are universally disagreed with by NHS staff, but from what I've heard from them, it's more the Tories that are bemoaned.

Think the Tories have lost this election now for sure, Cameron's phony swearing and 'up for it' b*llocks are so embarrasing I can't believe it is happening, let alone the Villa slip. Farage looks f*cked too so that is something.

Labour will most definitely have the controlling power and will form a government. The nasty party have been found out and the other parties bar the Tory racist side party (ukip) who would jump into bed with the Tories are hell bent in stopping the nasty party in their tracks......Lib dems are a nonentity today to be a threat to anyone. The Tories are panicking so expect some bullshit scare mongering and personal attacks on milliband......

Don't count any chickens. The last week will be dirty because The Tories have their backs against the wall. I agree on the campaign though,it's been a right shambles and now the LD's have dished the dirt on IDS's little scheme to axe child benefit they look proper shifty. Tricky to attack Miliband though,he's done well,I must admit I didn't rate him but have been surprised how he has come across.

I don't think any of the parties has showered themselves in glory - I think that really reflects how uncertain everybody is about this election because it seems to be breaking new ground and no-one other than Nicola Sturgeon seems to know how to deal with it. But the Tories' campaign has been absolutely atrocious. If Labour, as I am starting to believe might be possible, get a narrow majority, I have to say I think the Tories will largely have themselves to blame for the smear attempts on Miliband that have backfired.

Miliband doesn't impress me hugely, but it's obvious that he's so, so much better than he's been portrayed by the majority right-wing press and Tories. I think that's the biggest lesson from this election - don't paint someone as a blithering fool if it means everyone is surprised and impressed to find out they're not.

Miliband has impressed against the vast majorities expectations throughout the campaign.

Whether his performance takes him to Downing St - let's see...

I know I have found it very hard to vote Labour for a long time. They seemed far too eager to please big business then deal with the social consequences of rising inequality by throwing stacks of money at welfare and charities.

Making the safety net bigger because more people are likely to fall into it. What a horrible way for a country to go. Just look at all the food banks sprung up. It started on New Labour's watch.

My vote won't make any difference in inner-city East London - it will return Labour whatever happens (unless some Galloway figure pops up).

This time around, voting Labour would mean a bit more than just voting against the Tories getting in.

I think Rob is correct that it was a huge error to portray Miliband as a fool. There must have been a small clue in the fact that he has lectured at Harvard. The real fool seems to have been Lynton Crosby,he's spent all his time trying to avoid Dave debating with Miliband.

Try thatchers watch for food banks in wales Yorkshire and the north east, Our communities have never recovered from thatchers nasty party closing down all industries that tens of thousands of families relied on for a living. There was no need to shut down everything in a very short space of time and not give a **** about the poverty it would create....This country has never recovered since except for London and the leafy outskirts where most of these toffs live.......I hope to god the Tories will never get back into power ever again or people living north of watford, wales and Scotland will be plunged further into poverty and despair...

That's it. You've persuaded me. The strength of this argument here is simply unassailable.
