I haven't looked at anything related to Everton's finances except when they're publised

We are where we are, we spend what we spend and the manager keeps his job depending on the faith of the owners faith that he'll improve things next season or not.

Everton's owner/shareholders are happy it seems finishing around 7th, the prem payout for that keeps them cheddared financially.
Everton are a big club with a great history but since the 80's have accepted what for other clubs would be mediocrity, Moyes suited that mentality and was in Kenright's arse pocket because of his guaranteed job security.
If Rodgers ends up on the plane to Boston carrying a dear John letter we move on to the next in the hope he can get it right after all this time.
If not Rodgers will deffo get Rodgered if things go tits up next season.

Evertonians don't do criticism of the mother club, the mother-daughter relationship suits the former at the expense of the latter.

    It's laughable.

van "Gall" blew a 10 point lead on a disasterous Liverpool. Then we lost 2 games givng another 6 point lead to their 2 point lead, 8 points again.

Had we won 33 and 34 (a reasonable expectation) the gap would have been 1 point going into the last 4 games. That was good going considering everything.

Yes we failed, and were poor, but surely us being that poor and pushing united that close is an indication that they have also been poor, in fact their football has been dire for all but 5 games this season. We had a good few more than 5 good performances.

It's just that our poor performances were very poor where as United did better when being ****. Fair play to them but the margines are pretty fine.

Failing to get a quality striker has made all the difference, forget Lovren et al, not getting someone like Sanchez is the biggest reason we flopped. That one player missing made a huge difference.

You must be kidding! He was slated by United fans for the style of football and playing people out of position.

4th is acceptable, nothing more than that, as in basic terms it was the target he was set and an improvement on last season. He'll be expected to challenge for the title next season.

Surely you have to take into account the opposition. We lost against Chelsea away and Everton away (pretty sure Everton are on a good run, particularly at home) whereas you drew with West Brom and lost to Hull. The opportunity was there for Liverpool as United's games were very loseable whereas you would expect Liverpool to take at least 4 points from their two games.

Is 7 points behind really "pushing United that close"?

Obviously you are not reading my posts shteve.

it was 7 points at game 32 for us, 2 games in hand over United. I clearly said we failed in the last two games. It would not be much to expect to beat WB and Hull to close it to 1 point., Hence fine margins of failure.

Surely you get what I mean
Had we managed to beat those teams, you lot would be kacking it and you know it

You were talking about The Office, I couldn't make head nor tails of it lad<laugh> You did refer to his previous good work, and I rightly pointed out Brod also did previous good work but Klopp gets far more credit, in a less competitive league

It seems two games is the decider for sackng Brod?

OK we flopped but if's won those two games would anyone be banging on about it or relishing the run in?

loyalty or patience is worth two games <whistle>

yes I know it ain't that simple, but no one expected to gte this far before falling out of CL contention.

**** it, give Brod another go<ok>

There's a big difference, Klopp's previous work was winning two league titles and getting his team to a CL final, with (from what I understand), mostly cheap players or youth graduates, all the while his big name players are being sold out from under him, leading to a downward turn in fortunes.

Brandan's previous good work was finishing 2nd once, and then failing to finish in the top 4 the following season despite spending over £100m on players.
Klopp could have only ever dreamed of that type of money being available to him at Dortmund.

It's funny, you point to my over simplification and then go on yo over simplify yourself <whistle>

My point is valid, that Brod is getting no credit for doing well and then having a mare this year.
The PL is not the Bundes.. not by a longshot.

Brod gets no credit for last season it was all Suarez
Brod gets slated for failing to replace Suarez

Klopp get all the credit for doing well even though it was because of Lewandowksi and such
Klopp doesn't get slated for failing to replace the players he lost.
Klopp doesn't get nearly as much stick for doing worse than Brod this season.
As soon as it got tough Klopp quit

    Those are factual points

Klopp's good work includes league titles, regular Champions League qualification and progression, German Cups. And Klopp has achieved this on a modest budget and losing his best players every season.

Rodgers's good work is finishing 2nd in 1 season and failing in the other 2.

And you may say Bundesliga is a weak league, but it's certainly very strong. You're telling me that this PL is full of quality? The fact that Man United are still in top 4, and Man City practically dropping points every week in 2015 are still there just shows you how weak this league is. And the fact that we're finishing outside of top 4 is pathetic and embarrassing.

Klopp has endured a horrible season but still only 3 points off 5th place and in the German Cup final, which is comparable to Rodgers this season.

I don't mind if people want to keep Rodgers as the manager - but no one can compare the 2 because Klopp is an elite manager who will be remembered for breaking the Bayern resistance and winning titles for a team that was mid table prior to him joining, and doing so on a budget.

Sentiment and goodwill from pervious good work is null and void when assessing the season you've just had, it also doesn't negate the failures that led to this season for Klopp, even with CL he failed to replace who he lost.

So are we saying that if Brod had gained 3 more points last season, just 3 points, that means we should be far more lenient on him this year?

    I think that is fair.

Those point are made in refernce to you and Bodanki's posts

I may or may not agree with the above.

But I 've got a bee about people presenting things as facts when actually it is their (or a common) interpretation of the facts. Especially the last point. is this a FACT that he quit because it got tough? Could he have quit for other reasons?

    Sorry.

    hang on here..

how long has klopp been at dortmund and how many times has he had players lifted?

    answers:

    since 2008 = 7 years now

whats he won? two leagues, one cup.. couple of super cups which don't really count.

who's he had to compete with.. the megalithic Bayern

he took them form 13 consistently forward unitl they won the league and then won the double there as well.

he lost lewandowski to a free and the club did their collective best not to lose him but had to ensure it before that it was Gotze to bayern, beofre that kagawa who they resigned, beofre than sahin,

he was at the club when they signed hummels, signed kagawa originally, gundogan, and lewandowski....

they in thier bad season have still reach the german cup final.... beating bayern in semi. they will play wolfsburg

why are we slaughtering klopp for one bad year?

    Dortmund:
    2001/02 Bundesliga Champions
    2002/03 Bundesliga 5th
    2003/04 Bundesliga 8th
    2004/05 Bundesliga 7th
    2005/06 Bundesliga 10th
    2006/07 Bundesliga 9th
    2007/08 Bundesliga 13th
    2008/09 Bundesliga 6th
    2009/10 Bundesliga 5th
    2010/11 Bundesliga Champions
    2011/12 Bundesliga Champions
    2012/13 Bundesliga 2nd
    2013/14 Bundesliga 2nd

Klopp's record at Dortmund is not too shabby.. This year is poor and so fine that should not be ignored but why write him off?

Had he just resigned last summer he'd be europe's hottest property.
