Big Nige has been excellent entertainment this season for a so called 'dour' manager. He certainly doesn't suffer fools lightly which I'm sure is why he wouldn't work under the Allams.
Nigel Pearson was coming out with his standard "criticism by the press line" but when challenged he couldn't give any particular examples so he resulted to insulting the guy. If he'd given some examples then it may have been possible to see that they were justified criticisms. It's a bit like saying that Allam has been wrong in his justification for the name change but not being able to give any examples so you resort to insulting the questioner.
Just seen this. Pissing myself. I'll give it to him he certainly sticks up for him and his players and really gives it to the journos! Still can't stand him though.
I don't understand why so many people dislike him. I really don't. Most people seem to think journalists are parasites and despise what they do and how they do it, yet when someone in the public eye finally treats them with contempt for asking silly questions then everyone takes the journo's side. And of course, the way it is being reported on in the media as 'bizarre, foul mouthed' etc by fellow professionals is completely balanced..... The simple fact is a lot of sports journalists are ****ing idiots and **** at their jobs.
Dealing with the media is part of the job of a Premier League manager and he's ****ing useless at it, I don't give a ****, it's no longer us he's showing up, but he doesn't manage to make the journalist look an idiot, he manages to make himself look an idiot.
I actually found it quite entertaining, though I am a bit lost to know what he meant by saying he is flexible enough to stick his head in the sand?
At least he does it. Sir Alex broke his contractual obligations when flatly refusing to fulfill post match media obligations. And also did stuff like this: http://metro.co.uk/2007/03/21/fergies-foul-mouthed-rant-210703/ http://www.theguardian.com/media/2011/may/24/fergie-orders-giggs-reporter-banned How is this any different? Or is it because he was Sir Alex and nobody from the media dare stand up to him whereas this is just Nigel Pearson?
Pearsons responses made no logical sense whatsoever - it was as if he had been asleep for 6hrs , woke up to a barrage of questions on his phone - y'know when you can't form a sentence . weird !!!
Pearson's managed more ridiculous petulant rants in his first Premier League season, than Fergie managed in an entire career.
