    The Saints game is huge.

You have to take something from it. Your last four games are coincidentally against the top 4 form teams in the league today.

Just putting some facts out there.

Obviously won't last for Leics but you can only take 3 points from that game.

You find yourself supporting or at least hoping Newcastle win next weekend but they could end up being your saviour, if they lose.

    Funny old game.

Quite simply we HAVE to beat Southampton now to even have a chance of staying up. It could go one of two ways...we could be up for it and get that win or more probable the crowd will be nervous and the players confidence brittle. Concede 1st and its game and season over. The players owe the fans big time and need to be up for it and be mentally strong. If we did win and the mags got beat off Leicester then that would be interesting! But we really need at least 7 points to have a chance. Win both home games and an away draw. Even then....

Why are people not really mentioning Villa, they looked like they were going to pull ckear but habve not and have the FA cup to contend with. Loads of teams get to a cup final and go down in the same season.

    Southampton's defeats this season.

    Liverpool (a)
    Spurs (a)
    City (h)
    Arsenal (a) United (h) Burnley (a) - these came in a row.
    Swansea (h)
    Liverpool (h)
    WBA (a)
    Everton (a)
    Stoke (a)

Since they beat us at the beginning of January Southampton have only managed wins away at QPR and Newcastle, arguably the two worst teams in the league. They have lost their last two away games at Stoke and Everton.

Certainly not worth considering that reverse fixture, these lot should be beaten.

Stop making me feel even worse man Bri!

Sadly mine looks similar - I am gutted (unlike @Quentin Q. Benton ) - I understand his feelings on the other thread but I feel differently. I watched us go down under Wilkinson and then McCarthy and felt less gutted than I do about this season. I just can;t see us getting out of it - although we've gon WLD last three so WLDWL in the last 5 would see us stay up - if only it was that simple eh?

Still got hope. I put a draw against Southampton. If we win it's game on. Anything but a win and I give up hope.

Yeah me too. My last home game this season as I have an op 2 days before the Leicester game! Hopefully it's a good one!

If we win I will have renewed optimism and I will think we have a chance!

I'm totally confident we will stay up, we live by some of our freaky results like the end of last seasons, whatever Leicester can do, we can do better..

Anyway, even if we do go down (which we won't) then so be it, we have been there before, we got over it, we still supported till the last breath and no doubt we will do it again, it's a wanted life commitment..

    It isn't rocket science, It's Sunderland AFC..<ok>

Not for everyone - only for those of us that truly love the club Joe (people like you, me, my Dad, my son, Bri, Smug, Reg etc. - sorry if I missed you off - I know there are loads of SAFC true fans on here who love unconditionally and will go no matter where we play) But there are others that have a conditional love for the club and think that they are owed something and won't go simply because we're not playing Man Utd and Chelsea! If we are top of the championship in 10 months time I reckon the stadium will be full to the brim

You know your club better than I do, but to me, it would be typical for you lot to beat Southampton and then lose to Leicester.

That game is a must-win game, vs Leicester and you lot just seem to turn to jelly in those type of games this season.

I think they're both "must win" personally - well - we need to win 2 minimum to stay up I think - but, in essence, you're right in saying we turn to jelly against the bottom clubs (except Newcastle and Burnley seemingly this season) when we really need to win

Shed time for you Terry and stop talking sense please, we don't do that. Now, I'm sure there's a squirrel somewhere that needs pickling..<ok>
