Everyone thinks that it's Ken Bates who won't give Grayson any money to spend, but could it just be that Grayson doesn't like spending it? Both Bates and Grayson have said he's never been refused a player, so if that's true then it backs that notion up. It could be that Grayson is intimidated by the kind of quality that would command a bigger fee. Again, that is backed up by him letting quality like Beckford, Schmeichel, Johnson and Kilkenny leave. It could also be the case that Grayson is scared of spending too much money for fear of looking bad if it's wasted on poor players. Even his biggest fan would have to admit that his record in the transfer market is poor. It's easier to forgive him when they're free transfers or a nominal fee, but imagine if Bessone had cost half a million pounds.
dont encourage clive please.... and clive when they said they have never been refused a player they were refferring to last summer and to say imagine if bessone cost half a million is ridiculous because he didnt cost that much, same with paynter, i hate paynter but he cost us nothing in a transfer and preston are trying to buy him which means we make money, same with schmeichal, we made money simple as that. people keep worrying for the worst but as soon as grayson brings in a couple of signings which he will regardless of what anyone says, people will see that its not all bad. To say grayson is intimidated is ridiculous, the money isnt there to spend and have a go at bates if like but he is looking after the club, people will always find negatives with anything but noun and again you need to take a step back and realise the people at the club are doing the right things to push forward
Spot on Josh, we are getting so frustrated at lack of movement in the Transfer market some of us are making pretty wild suggestions like Larry being intimidated. He certainly is not going to be by Becks (ex non league) Johnson came from Northampton, Schmeichal Notts County and Killa they are not what you call QUALITY players, they could do a job yes but thats about it. Larry has made some mistakes but this is his first big job where every move is under the microscope and being a fan must make some descisions even tougher but I have every faith he wants this great club to progress and as I have said before lets wait till Crimbo and see where we are. I think to even get near the playoffs in our first season back is a damn good effort by everyone but has made a rod for his own back as our expectations are now greater than last season.. Also if Bates was not a cockney would he get as much stick as he does? A little like Wise did. I personally don't like Bates or Wise but the the dwarf did a great job and must be kicking himself at leaving when he did. I think its a football thing now where loyalty is a distant memory and money talks..
i just think grayson plays the safe card, mainly because of his job! i think if he was accused of spending too much and failing to motivate a squad he potentially could have sack written all over his forehead. But if he spends less, pays less wages, motivates average players. You just know that Ken can't touch him!
Josh where did you read Preston wanted Billy because we may be able to swap him with Adam Barton now that would be a good deal!
I don't think any of this really matters to Santa, it's the end result he cares about, whatever that end result is intended to be. If he says get promotion and you don't then that's your job gone. Besides, with the shambles of team organisation last season, i'm sure there were plenty of squad players who weren't motivated by Grayson.
Its a combination of both, as soon as they are both out of the club, we'll tear up wateva league were in
True! This is his season, we don't make it and i can see him going! Massive season for everyone involved with the club.
