I could only suggest spraking to Steve Coultas at the SMC to see if that can be arranged

I caught a brief sight of it early one, and also the one in the north.

I think what mauled says is the best idea. Steve's been helpful in the past.

It's a shame people can't get into the spirit of it, but we don't need to be causing any more antagonism than exists already, it'd defeat the point.

Credit to you Dude for doing what you've done and not getting into an argument.

Let us know if you're still having a problem and I'll think some more.

It's early days, and it'll take a bit to get find a way of dispalying it that's not going to piss other people off. A good wave pre-match and during goals etc could be a decent compromise.

No, that and the Bruce one were missing. I did have a meeting at the club yesterday and there were literattly 100's of workmen in the ground doing the lighting and when I didn't see them yesterday afternoon I wasn't too sure if they would hane been up due to the chaos inside the ground (well it looked chaotic)

There are bound to be glitches. It was suggested on here that we have volunteers to help with the banners on match days. Maybe that is the way forward.

Someone did, TOM, and it changes nothing, does it. You are fully entitled to be a twat about this, but it moves nothing forward, does it? A bit of forward thinking, a bit of putting the cart behind the hoss, a bit of prior confirmation on sizes and locations would have put this excellent concept into a better place; but it is where it is.

The club were quite happy with the size of the flags with them being hand held, unfortunateley, the issue is surrounding fans

No, Dude, but in matters of common-sense I can help you; so can others. Did you really believe that everyone around you would appreciate having a banner of that size over them? Do you really expect that everyone, regardless of age, attends a game to hero-worship a player or manager from the past? There have been some pretty big assumptions made and common-sense made them a predictable weakness. If that offends you then I am sorry as that is not my purpose, I simply feel it is a shame that the first project's excellent principle has fallen into confusion.

See my reply to, Dude. The club and how they have approached this are a part of the problem. Did no one question the reaction of folk who would, in some way or another, be compromised by the handheld banners (as opposed to flags)? I am not asking anyone to defend themselves, as it is what it is, which is a pity.

There is no confusion, it's a learning curve.
The issues can be fixed once they are identified.
Until Dude got the banner out, he would not have been able to predict the reaction.

As for me being a twat, you seem more concerned about being negative than positive.

You are happy to say no, but never willing to actually do anything to help.

Stop finding any excuse to point a finger and get involved.

I'm just having a stab in the dark here Fez, but I'm guessing you don't like them (at the minute) and wouldn't want one yourself?

Putting up and taking down the banners was a part of the problem that needed addresing for any more larger ones and why we plumped for the smaller ones. The SMC take care of those two as a gesture of good will, but clearly there'll be occasions when other commitments take priority. That's just a fact of life.

It's all a learning curve, but all in all it's heading in a good direction.

Why would pointing out the shortfalls of a plan be construed as negative; successful projects gain their success by considering the what-ifs before plunging in - you are clearly ignorant of the basic principles of project management so I would suggest you do a bit of Googling. When this was first discussed I asked reasonable questions that were met with heavy sarcasm and contempt, but you conveniently forget that.
Again you seem to deliberately chose to be a twat by criticising me for not taking an active part in a project that I have openly stated that I do not agree with. You seem to think that because you wish to be the BIG-I-AM with anything and everything that others should follow suit. I have offered suggestions about how improvements could be achieved with the first banner, the one I supported; it might help if someone spoke with Durham CCC who are currently using a banner, twice the size of the Bruce one, tied across their stands as a temporary sight-screen. Where there's a will there's a way.
