I think this is the regular argument put when discussing the death penalty. But to be honest (it may be just my opinion) I would get more out of seeing the person live a life of incarceration with absolutely no rights and no pleasantries than kill them. its too quick...too easy. But I know what you mean Billy, anyone touched my kids I would want to kill them myself, rather than the clinical methods of the state.
OK then let's say some twat rapes some kiddies but doesn't kill them. They wouldn't get life for that & I'd want them dead so they couldn't inflict that on anybody else. You'll find a lot of folk moralising about it until it happens to their own.
I know Billy, you're right. The case that springs to mind in that Ian Huntley, I find it very hard to keep my belief in opposing the death penalty for scum like that. But I am still in the belief, that in 2015, we are a little more advanced than just accepting state murder, cos that's what it is.
Billy, You'll never win over the PC Brigade in ANY country. “If you should be in Rome, live in the Roman manner; if you should be elsewhere, live as they do there” Ps. Answer this, Why can't people find God BEFORE using his name after the fact!
So who are the ones guilty of state murder? The government or the executioner? What about armed forces being sent to places to put people down? Are the soldiers & RAF pilots guilty of murder? If so, then I'm guilty.
Not really the same thing is it? Listen, I always respect anyone's opinion, always have, always will. I am also in the belief (read my original post) that if you are in a country where this is the law, then if do something that contravenes that law, you live or die by the consequences. I have limited sympathy for these who have been executed as the law in Indonesia is very clear..they took the risk and lost. My argument so to speak, is on a wider basis, I would hate to think in the UK we would ever think about re introducing this system. Having said that, for the murderers and rapists that get convicted, we should have prisons/facilities that would make the rest of their lives a living hell...alas the PC brigade that Kiwi refers to will never allow that. Very emotive subject this, we all have an opinion on, I guess in some way we are all right.
Labour will reopen the floodgates for the Islamic fundamentalists who 'seek refuge' from Shari'a Law States, they'll end up integrated into their own radical Islamic society over here and the ECHR will deem that we have no right to deny Shari'a Law on religious grounds.
Of course I would want to kill them myself as slowly and painfully as possible but that is a different issue...The fact is that mistakes have always been made by courts and always will and one mistake is too many..If you look at the USA states where the death penalty still exists, they have a higher than average murder and serious crime rate than the states that do not, so it doesn't really work as a deterrent either..
It could have, but it didn't and no labour voter could dispute the fact that they let in more non-EU nationals. We can deal with facts and opinions, we can use facts to back up our opinions. Or we can deal with lies and pretend.
State executions.... no we don't want them Aye ok, you don't want the public one's....but happy with the one's that keep you safe, and let you sleep at night, as some nasty man does them for you, but you sleep at night.. We don't want no killings of the bad man....oh hang on, maybe if it effect us, its ok.
