Hard one for me. Think N'Doye deserves it as we've needed his goals, but Dawson has gone from strength to strength, especially last few months.
Dawson is great but we've got loads of good CBs and didn't particularly miss him when he was injured. Without N'doye though we'd be utterly ****ed right now. Robertson was also an excellent find but has been underused.
N'Doye, simply because without him (with Jelly out) we'd be ****ed now. Having said that I'm inclined to agree with the Phelan sentiment, took him a while but you can see more steel and organisation in the past month. Hopefully next season we'll be looking back to Robertson as this season's best signing. Still think there's mileage in Ramirez too.
It really is between N'Doye and Dawson. N'Doye might just have found us the goals we needed at the right time; Dawson for stepping up to the mark to take a fading Davies's place. Diame and Robertson could have been contenders had they stayed injury-free.
I'm not sure Davies would have faded if we didn't buy Dawson. They can't play well together, that's pretty evident, but that's not to say Davies has dropped off a cliff. Still, I'd be happy to sell Davies this summer. Dawson-McShane-Chester is a solid Back 3. Sell Davies and bring in decent back up, and start rotating Maguire in too.
N'Doye Dawson Phelan Has to be N'Doye for me because regardless of how well we Dawson has defended without N'Doye and with Jelavic out we would be most likely ****ed right now and at or near the very foot of the table. He has scored the same amount of goals as players who have won the league, champions league and would rush you £30million and that is in less than half a season. Dawson has been absolutely stoic and in reality should probably be at a club like Southampton. He is exactly what we have needed in a season were Davies has been close to shambolic. Davies has really struggled to get to grips with him not being the best centre back or even captain and his performances plummeted as a result. I think this time next yeat the answer to our best player of the season will hopefully be Robertson as he starts to realise his full potential.
Or interpreted it differently, I'd say N'Doye has had the most impact on this season but of all the players we've signed this season Robertson is potentially the best signing longer term
He is in the poll list. He is my signing of the season. Plus he is a longer term investment worth money in the bank. Stop nit picking.
I've not got anything against you picking him, it's your reasoning I don't get. Not sure how you can pick who our best signing this season has been based on how they'll play in the future. That's how I see it anyways. For all you know Robertson might end up like Dudgeon, having a long term injury and never recovering.
