U18s follow up their Championsn League triumph by retaining Youth Cup http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2015/4/27/8505267/chelsea-defend-fa-youth-cup-title
Would love to get excited about this, but in truth it is meaningless as far as the Club are concerned. All will be sold, or loaned and then sold. Despite statements to the contrary from Jose, none will ever get into the first team . Jose buys winners, he doesn't create them. Never has and never will. Sad but true.
Who gives a flying fcuk if the kids make it or not. What is the obsession? Does it make them 'more Chelsea' being young despite most of them being born in Outer *****lia? Yes, in an ideal world it would be nice, of course it would but our fans seem to have an alarming fixation with it. Are we fooled into thinking they would show us loyalty if Real Madrid or Barcelona came calling? Like hell they would. You only have to look at that Sterling lad at Liverpool to see how they could also take the pi55. Would you support Baker or Solanke more than you did Osgood, Zola or Desailly? I've got a great idea - trust our manager. You know, that bloke who saves sentiment for the bedroom and not the football pitch. Yep, that fella who actually wins stuff.
Agree with some of your comments. Not saying no to foreigners! Not every import will be Gian, Marc, Didi. At the sametime don't want major imports who are flops. But retaining young talent helps balance out the financials to a great extent. Having homegrown player or two does immense good to the core of the team. Jose's first job is to motivate and keep kids like Ryan, Romelu interested. Rom > Nando, Ryan > Luis & Ake > John any given day. They could be easily integrated into 2 domestic cups and some home league games. Jose had the authority to ship Juan, but not Nando? I understand possible suitors etc, but still we got ZERO anyways for Nando. Jose can do these simple stuff. He will not, that is what is baffling.
I can't comment on the politics of it all Stan. Way above my head mate. What we are aware of though is that Jose has a boss and in my experience if my boss says jump i ask how high whilst probably muttering what a tvvat he is under my breath. Additionally, we must understand that youngsters = risk, big risk? If we fail having taken this risk who is sacked? The fans who demand we play them? The kids who have proven they weren't ready for the step up? The manager? Of course, it's the latter so ultimately we must give the bloke in charge of our team the decision. Ultimately it is his head on the block. I'm sure Jose would love to bleed some of our exceptional young talent but he sees, he hears and he gets word of them far more than we do. Recently he had a sly dig at Bamford who maybe got a bit trappy in an interview. He's already been through the Lukaku situation so he can be forgiven for thinking that they are trying to run before they can walk. I get what you say about helping the financials but winning football matches and trophies far outweigh that and this is what Jose is paid to do and he is pretty good at it. He won't let a potential cocky upstart risk his own job (why should he?) or the success of Chelsea FC. The kids have to be patient and so must we. It is easy to sit on our computer ar5es screaming for us to play this kid or that kid but the risk is not ours to take.
"Sometimes you see beautiful people with no brains. Sometimes you have ugly people who are intelligent, like scientists". JM This is also true for the young guns, I trust Jose' to find the intelligent ones amongst them.
kakuta has played all over europe, nobody wanted him, he'll get released and end up in ukraine (if hes lucky). Chalobah had a chance at burnley, played badly in the few games he was chosen and wasn't fancied-he's dropped down now and by the looks of things is doin ok with clarke. Neither have actually proven they should have been nailed on starters or squad members at CFC one of the biggest clubs in the world. Would chalobah get into juve's team? Barcas team? Either of the madrids?? this is what you are asking for mediocre (atm with nathaniel) players to be catapulted into a highly pressurized and competitive situation, its just not realistic. When these youngsters warrant a place in the team, they'll get it. Until then wait, because as far as I can see-bar ryan bertrand, who got loads more appearances than you might think-none of our HG youngsters have gone on and done great things since leaving CFC.
What you have to ask is "can they track back and defend". If Mata was let go and Hazard was told he didn`t do enough you have to worry how good a youngster would have to be to be given a chance.
.. to be fair, kakuta is not as good as mata nvm eden, so his tracking back ability wouldn't be the issue really IMO. Chalobah is a CB/CM so i'd actually expect him to be pretty good at tracking back! Also RE eden, last year he was a verry good player, but a tad sluggish on the defensive side-now he's the best player in the league...perhaps theres something to this tracking back lark!
I think his close control, dribbling, decision making and goals have a bit more to do with him being the best player in the league What you are saying here is, no youth player will ever be getting a regular starting place if they have to prove they are better than your first team and bench before they are given a chance.
Honestly, there or there abouts. Youngsters have to be at around the same level or have a precocious talent indicating that given playing time they'll quickly get up to speed ala mr Kurt Happy Zouma. Big clubs don't have passengers. A team has to have 11 men who can pull their weight. If liverpool had 3 wingers better than raheem sterling, how many games would sterling play this year?
I will believe that when Zouma starts getting regular game time in place of Terry/Cahill, at the moment he is thrown on as an extra defender for his speed and height to shut games down. Where do you think the players you buy came from? They didn`t just magically appear age 24+ as great players, good managers spotted them and gave them a chance
Have to agree with this comment because we have so many top young players coming through. I think the day will come where Chelsea will rule football because Roman had invested n the absolute best of youth.
think you'll find he has played a few games at CB when cahill wasn't upp to the task, also if he played up top what does it matter, jose saw something in him and thought..."yeah he's done enough, hes a BETTER option than what i have, i'll give him a go." as for other teams, thats them. that why they are "other teams" and CFC are double winning champions this year. its always good to blood youngsters, but come on man. its not like we're getting much wrong is it. brilliant 1st team, brilliant youth team, potentially good lads on loan. im not buying into your pity party no matter how hard you try. IMO we're doing nearly evreything right
