Nothing new really, but Reed saying wait and see for Clyne signing. Interesting. http://metro.co.uk/2015/04/28/manch...haniel-clyne-likely-to-sign-new-deal-5171563/ Metro, I know.
Exactly this. Adam Lallana kissed his badge, repeatedly stated his desire to stay at Southampton and then left at his first clear opportunity. That betrayal stung a lot of Southampton fans and I feel like they are taking this out on any players linked with moves away now. Clyne has never kissed the badge. He's never mentioned finishing his career here in interviews. He is simply a brilliantly talented footballer who has an opportunity to play for a brilliantly talented team. He deserves Champions League football, he is that good of a player. Remember that he didn't make a peep despite the uncertainty surrounding the club this Summer (unlike Morgan) and stood by the club, giving Koeman a chance. If he leaves (and I believe that he will), then I will wish him all the best.
If and it's a big if. It would be a huge turn around. I still can't see it tho. Utd had already contacted us.
I suspect that the biggest negative for the lad would be the prospect of working for the Human Spoon ....................
Judging by the tweets, a large number of our twittering fans were severely damaged by last seasons shenanigans, they can no longer believe anything that is told to them unless it is of negative nature.
As SamKimish has pointed out, there is a difference between Clyne's position and Lallana's...the latter really let us down, whereas Clyne could be regarded as just one of many players who come and go at every club. He came here for the right reason...to play football. Be great if he signs another contract, but otherwise we get to sell him for a decent price and send him on his way with thanks. If he does sign, it will say a lot about us as a club...we may have turned the corner and be considered a big enough club to keep a very good player.
Clyne has always been a decent professional and like a Steven Davis there are no shenanigans and he just gets on with his job. If he does go to Man U then he will have given us three decent years service and a tidy profit when apparently he had the opportunity to go there in the first place but favoured a move to a team where he would play first team football and develop - this is what we want projected.
Maybe we told them to go away and not come back or quoted them a price they would be mad to pay. We were good at that last summer - I mean we got £20m for Lovren . We don't have to jump just because they contacted us. If Clyne wants to go then fair enough but not just because someone's contacted us.
He did want to go. The last thing I was told is he had decided to move on. It's why I said if he stays it would be massive. As would Morgan deciding to stay.
I still think both he and Morgan will go. Les could just be playing the media game well; a sort of, "you want him, you can up your bid massively"
Didn't you hear? Lallana kept on feeding Blackmore info(basically moaning about Reed). Part of it was Lallana saying Reed never picked up the phone when he called him asking to be allowed to leave.
