Geeeez if Charlie scored we wouldn't be saying this ! He bottled it and cost us simple that's not including perfectly good goal ruled out , the mind boggles . The Prem dnt want us in it simple
For Hill you say no room for sentiment yet you want to keep Faurlin. Sorry, he obviously has an inherent weakness in his knees and it will only be a matter of time before it happens again. I will keep Joey. Yes, stupid red card but he is one of only a handful of players who puts in a real shift each game and plays with the passion we need. He has been MoM every match since his return from suspension.
so, people were unhappy with Harry and now Ramsey is not good enough. Harry was experienced but apparently made wrong choices with team selection and Ramsey also does the same, but based on Inexperience. whoever QPR appoint as manager, got a feeling there are a few fans who would never ever be happy or satisfied with a current incumbent.
I like Ramsey but think we need an experienced Championship/Premier league manager and get Ramsey in as coach. I have a feeling big Sam will be on a TF list somewhere in the process but he may already have someone in mind. You would think a business man like him would have a contingency in place. I like to think we will get hungry young players in but we need experience also. It's a tough league and a long season so a good squad in needed. Going to be sad seeing the players I like being picked off one by one. Needless to say I don't think we will stay up!
Take a look at Bournemouth's squad Matt................ http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/afc-bournemouth/kader/verein/989/saison_id/2014 Total cost............ £21.76m !!!
We can't keep on re-building from scratch. We all get a bit down when results don't go our way and that casts a shadow over the perceived quality of our squad. I would probably release just nine players in order to spice up the squad but retain some continuity. I would definitely release: Ferdinand (a season, or two, or three, too far) SWP (has never been anywhere good enough for us) Faurlin (after his injuries, it's hard to believe he will ever get back to an acceptable, injury-free, level) Kranjcar (a bit of a luxury, not good value for money, poor defensively, plays like he's in his mid 30's) Zamora (his presence encourages us to play hoof ball and this season he has, so far, scored just 3 in 31 games, a fairly typical return for him) I would also probably let go: Murphy (I've not seen a lot of him but I'm unconvinced of his quality and we need a young, outstanding prospect as third choice gk) Traore (he's had so many chances to prove himself but he lacks both concentration and sound defensive qualities; not quite good enough) Hill (still an OK CB but we should have a bright young prospect alongside Onuoha, Caulker or Dunne, who has had some outstanding games for us this season) Hoilett (used to scare Championship defences when running at them but his ball control and inability to cross the ball weigh heavily against him) There are other under-performers in our squad but it is a SQUAD and we need to bulk it out with some familiar faces. Of course, some others, like Charlie, might choose to leave.
Stop being so melodramatic Ninesy! That's just an estimate based on someone (probably with a football management game in front of them) and disallows the possibility of real scouting. I might just be aware of this because of my locality but this is based on actual expenditure (although granted they're only fifth and not promoted)..... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29505201
I would offer Barton a new contract, now! He has been our consistently best player throughout the season. Henry is also worth his salt. In the championship he would be one of the best DMs in the league.
That's fair enough. I think the "Champion's League winners on the way down" comment was a reference to Rio and an acknowledgement of that mistake. They did say on MOTD2 (and I've no real reason to doubt the validity) that we have the seventh highest wage bill in the country. We should be in the bottom 5 of the Premier League in the stat. Part of the cause is the legacy of the early flurry of excitement when TF took over ie we're waiting for the contracts of SWP, Taarabt and Barton to run down (even if we did offer them new deals, they should be much less). Ramsey strikes me as the type that would actively avoid stellar names and anyone of repute would have to work harder to convince him of their benefit to us. I think we'd actually need Les to guide him towards some experience otherwise we'd end up with a team similar to Aston Villa when Paul Lambert took over and they fielded primarily a youth team.
My point is that with hindsight Ramsey probably wasn't the right choice considering the situation we are in, and I emphasise the word "hindsight" At the time I thought it was a good appointment but it hasn't worked has it?
I get the impression Ramsey is working extremely hard and very well. I have noticed a definite improvement in individual performance levels since he took over, Ned, Caulker a bit, Phillips a huge improvement, both Fer and Vargas before they were injured, and Adel in the brief glimpses. We have seen youth players do ok. The team seem to play for each other and give everything both home and away. We aren't a walkover now as we were often away under Harry. It hasn't worked yet points wise no, but we been unlucky with injuries, Refs and most of all the squad he got had big holes in it. Stick with him, and with the players to work with, I reckon the results will start to reflect the work he'a doing.
Agree, Ramsey has been dealt a poor hand and insufficient time to make a significant impact. I think he's generally done OK and certainly injected a bit of pride and team ethos into the players. Sure, he's made a few poor selection choices, we were all moaning how poor Phillips had been before Ramsey started getting the best out of him. The biggest factor against the team is time and that's down to Redknapp not resigning much earlier as any decent manager would've done. I don't quite get those that blame Ramsey he and the squad have largely shown a positivity and determination that we all wanted. Give the guy a break please, what will be will be.
I think it's imperative we learn lessons from teams in the Championship this season who have been promoted/been successful and those who haven't. The Championship requires a blend of players who either know the league very well and are experienced and also players who are essentially too good for the level of football. Fulham were the prime example of a team who put their faith in the youngsters are failed miserably. Survival for them is actually an achievement. None of us on here know the exact wages our players are on (although wouldn't it be brilliant if these were published!), so financially we may be forced to let some players go that we the fans would like to keep based on ability. I'd anticipate we'll lose Austin, Sandro, Fer, Phillips, Hoillett, maybe Green depending on his contract situation for actual transfer fees. We should release/sell/send back Ferdinand, Hill, SWP, Brian Murphy, Isla, Vargas, Taarabt, Kranjcar, Zarate, Assuming that their wages include relegation decreases, I'd retain and build the squad around the following; McCarthy Furlong Onouha Caulker Dunne Robinson (Left Back) Yun Suk Young Barton (Captain) Henry Faurlin (If he can prove his fitness) Zamora What you'll get from this squad of players is potentially the best Goalkeeper in the division with McCarthy, experienced professionals (Henry,Dunne,Zamora), a leader in Barton, and youth with the likes of Furlong and Jack Robinson. What we need to sign Wingers who work both ways Goalscorer to replace Austin A voice at the back to play alongside Caulker or Onouha (It's possible only one of them will be here next season and both of them need a vocal presence alongside them)
I would Keep Henry, Barton & MaCarthy and sack the rest to a man. Hill, Dunne, keep for coaching. That's 3 players to start the season with, just Imagine the new managers excuses.
Squad could start with the following GK's - McCarthy, Murphy RB - Harriman, Furlong LB - Robinson, YSY CB - Donaldson, Ned, Ehmer, Dunne/Hill DFM - Henry, Barton, Doughty AM - Sutherland, Hoilett, Phillips Forwards - Grecco - Cox, OBZ, Now I'm beginning to struggle......please add as appropriate
