And this morning the economy has stalled. Tories are economically illiterate. They produce the worst recession ever because of ideology and when they let the brakes off the economy stalls before the recovery makes back half the ground lost during the needless politically motivated faux austerity.
The idea that there has been any economic recovery is a bad joke. The only reason that we have had measurable "growth" has been down to house prices. And, surprise surprise, it's been Tory policies that have accelerated house price growth. So I don't think this morning's news about the economy stalling is anything to write home about - it's never truly been recovering at all. More Tories = more austerity and we are in serious danger of losing a decade's worth of investment which will be paid for by future generations. They bang on about the damage Labour did to the economy, but Tories are doing just as much damage only they are also cementing the position of the wealthy
What actually have the Tories achieved? I know they claim to have achieved lots, but have they actually done anything positive in the past five years? Economic growth? Nope, just a phoney calculation incorporating the ridiculous fake and inflated house price market (particularly in London) as Rob alludes. Another financial disaster waiting to happen as soon as interest rates start to climb again. More people out to work? Nope, well perhaps if you include the significant number of zero hours contracts out there which really aren't as popular and don't work anywhere near as well for 'the people' as they are attempting to spin every time the matter gets brought up. Reduced immigration? Er, nope again, net immigration figures exceed those of the previous Labour government, despite the promise to reduce it to less than 100,000 per year. Press regulation? Nope, has anything from the ridiculously long, lengthy and very expensive Levinson enquiry actually been imposed yet? Reduce borrowing? Independent reports show that borrowing has actually increased year-on-year under this coallition, not quite what was promised in the last manifesto was it? Improved education standards? The general concensus is that Michael Gove made a right cock-up of things before he was put out of his misery and sidelined, and with more and more 'free schools' and academies popping up surely we are heading towards a two-tier education system that will create an even bigger gap between the haves and the have-nots. Maintain the standard of the NHS? Do I need to answer that one? There have been a couple of notable achievements which this coallition can be proud of, namely the increase of the minimum tax threshold to almost £11k and the change in legislation to allow civil marriages - oh hang on, weren't they both Lib-Dem policies? Right, back to trying to think about some of the good things the Tories have done, might be here all day.....
Yeah whatever, blah blah blah - I'm sure polls would be meaningless to you as soon as you find one showing Labour in front. How about answering my question above about what the Tories have actually achieved? Oh, and I'm still waiting for an answer regarding IDS and his vote to go to war with Iraq - did he vote yes because he is thick and gullible and believed what the vast majority of the country knew were lies, or did he vote yes because he knew just what was going on and was quite happy to go along with it. I know you Tories don't actually like answering straight questions truthfully and with a simple honest answer, but why don't you have a go just this once eh?
After the savaging you boys have taken from the IFS I don't think you have much to lecture us on when it comes to economic fortitude!
Right, so you are unable to actually answer a simple, direct question then, thanks for clearing that up. Typical Tory scumbag
JWM - what do you think about the lawyer (who I vaguely know btw) being parachuted in to a safe Tory seat that he has no connection to who seems to have lied throughout his campaign? Par for the course it seems
Have I done so far on this Thread? Instead of persecuting visitors perhaps you should keep some of your own in line! Just a thought!
How about one I haven't already pooh-poohed? And as for the "personal insults", who was the one throwing the C word around a couple of days ago? Admittedly it was in the evening and you'd probably sunk a couple of bottle of cheap brandy by then, but even so.
JWM is a typical Tory. The Ashcroft poll is widely considered to be an outlier. Two others showed Labour leads of 3% and 1% so if you average them out the Tory lead is 0.67%. As for the "Powerhouse" economy. Yes there has been 0.3% since January, however the previous two quarters were 0.6% and 0.7% and the growth is entirely in the service sector. Manufacturing and Construction which are the two main indicators of economic health are failing. Still we can all make a good living selling each other £5 cups of coffee can't we. All is well in Toryworld!
Just support who you want to support and stop coming on our board moaning. Just stay away from the thread if it doesn't suit.
