When I looked around, the only thing I found was that Liverpool were after Bolasie and that Lambert could be used as part of the deal. Unless that is what we get as part of Bolasies sell on clause, if there was one, I couldn't find anything else.
I think this will go the same way as the Michael Owen rumour a few years back. Mind yo, we got David James - and that surprised a few people.
I'm pretty sure that it was confirmed back in the day that we enquired about Michael Owen and Utd said we could take him on loan, but he turned the move down?
Rickie Lambart to us your having a laugh, nooooooooooo chance,if this was to happen that would send a huge message to the championship
Not an outrageous thought - after all, a few years back he was paying for what is now a non-league team.
We won't get Lambert, end of! We should have gone for him when GJ was in charge, but GJ bottled it fearing an ex gashead would never be welcomed by us City fans.
It's a shame that some fans have that ethos, I believe we à re better off trying to build a squad over several years to challenge for the prem
Lambert could be hot in the Championship, or maybe not.. Remember the arse that our ex-England goaly made of himself a few years ago Many great players have stepped down a league at the end of their careers and been eaten up by less accomplished but more hungry adversaries. However, a hungry Lambert in the Championship would be quite a sight
To be fair BRR, James was defending the Alamo a lot of the time, and he did save us on a fair number of occasions - I remember watching us play Forest at Ashton Gate - he kept them out almost single handed. He did perform some flaps and howlers too - particularly for crosses and set pieces - but he had been doing that all his career - he wasn't labeled 'Calamity James' for nothing, but as a shot-stopper he was pretty good IMHO. I agree with your second point - however, there are examples of players who have dropped down the leagues and remained 'professional' too - like Kevin Phillips for example?
I was all for Lambert in the GJ days, not now though.....I want someone young, hungry and quick, not a has been!
I agree with one for, GJ should have chased Lambert and Sinclair regardless of their Rovers connection when he had the chance as I reckon we would have got them. For me time has now passed and if Lambert comes down to the Championship he knows as we do that his career is on the wane, and quite often their desire goes the same way. Marcus Stewart springs to mind.
Can see what you're saying, but let's face it, Aaron Wilbraham was even more of a has-been before he joined us!
He's only had one season at Liverpool that's he's not been used, prior to that he was a regularly playing for Southampton. Don't think it's the end of career move more a move to play again. Never understood why he signed for Liverpool, even with the back biter gone he was never going to play for them, like Borino it's not their sort of player. They just like wasting money.
