On the balance of play, I don't think we can moan too much. I am very happy we contained Hazard because as I've said before he's the main player who makes me **** myself whenever he has the ball. They had very few chances, but then again, so did we. Thinking about it now, the game went pretty much how I expected it to. I have to say though. Wenger's record against Mourinho still concerns me. 13 games, 0 wins, 6 draws and 7 losses. Truthfully I just don't think Wenger has the ability to tactically 'one-up' Mourinho and I'm unsure as to whether he ever will.
I'd take a draw but at the same time disappointed we didn't win. Defense was good as was midfield. Felt we were a bit timid in attack and we should have exploited the width more. Oxlade Chamberlain was a massive miss. Hope he's back for United. In a great position to get 2nd now.
Listen to Maureen saying that Arsenal chanting 'Boring Boring Chelsea' actually meant 'Boring Boring Arsenal' What a ****. His team play 19th Century football and he's got the gall to call us boring.
Just listened to TH on sky saying we have to sign four players through the spine of the team to have a chance to win the EPL, GK,CH,DM,CF. Hit the nail on the head.
Fabregas talking up the Arsenal fans even though they spent the match booing him like dicks. Class. The fans booing him are a disgrace.
Good to see there's some fans with some perspective. We had our strongest team and they had no strikers yet they looked more likely to win.
No strikers for the first half. We played well today but too often over-elaborated, and not clinical enough for me. Need to be more direct but even if we were, I'm not sure we'd have been able to prise open the Chelski backline. A point both teams would have taken before kick-off and Chelsea will be the happier of the two sides.
We already have a top quality DMF, I'm sorry you can't watch today's game and think a new DMF would have somehow changed the balance of the game, Coq was excellent today, and has been excellent ever since he came into the team. If we're talking about signing a new DMF for back up, then no problem, but somehow I doubt that was the context when he talked about needing to sign a new DMF. What we need to go and get this summer is another world class forward, a world class GK if possible, as not many are always available, and another solid cb, these are the 3 priorities. A back up DMF is also needed, but we no longer need to go out and look for a starting DMF as we have one.
They had two good chances, with the calibre of players they have, you would expect them to create some things, but in general, we contained them, and kept Hazard quiet. They didn't create a single threatening chance in the entire second half, and that is to our credit. Yes, we need some perspective on the game, but don't get this perspective of we were just not good today, this is Chelsea, they have played against so many other teams, and this isn't the first time they have shut someone out, so I don't get why we should be negative about finding it hard to break it down, we aren't the first team to find it hard, and won't be the last either. Chelsea are going to be champions, and are very good defensively, and on that basis, we gave them a very good game, and didn't look like we didn't belong on the pitch with them, or that we're miles off the pace from them. That's the type of game were even the Chelski players come out knowing they were in a game and come out with respect for their opposition and realise that they just faced a proper team....It's been a long time since we played a solid Chelsea team and looked like we deserved to be on the pitch with them, and that we actually gave them a game. As for Chelski not having a striker, who cares, heck it probably bode better for them because it give Mourinho a better chance to park the bus by adding ANOTHER midfielder, a striker would have forced them to play more and create more space...Heck even when they DID have a striker on the pitch, we saw how little ambition they had, so I doubt that if they had a striker on top things would have been that much different, Chelski came today with a game plan they always put out, sit back, keep it tight, and hit on the break when the chance arises.
Disagree with pretty every single one of those opinions, except the one where they say we need to be more ruthless as I felt that myself earlier today. The rest pretty much sums up a certain section of Arsenal fans sadly. Laughing stock.
'Chelsea took care of the business in the first half - and fair play to Chelsea'. This was from most of the goons in those youtube videos. Surprised. Rest are usual deluded.
Classless chelsea fans defacing Herbert Chapman statue: Why the hell wasn't there any Arsenal stadium security to do something about this....Should've battoned those ****ers on the head.
Honestly looking back, Nasri left in more agreeable circumstances than Cesc. Sure he left for money but at least he gave it his all with us until the very end. Yet people will boo him and boo RvP but give Cesc a ****ing applause? Joke if I've ever seen one.
As a substitute, yes. Don't think he's mature enough to start a game like this, though. The main issue with Ox starting in this type of game is his tendency to give the ball away in bad areas. A team as ruthless as Chelsea would punish us. He goes on excellent, driving runs forward and is always a thorn in the opposition side, but his passing and decision-making can still be suspect at times. Against Monaco, we were punished when he got dispossessed easily and that led to Monaco killing the game off. Obviously whenever a player goes forward, there's always an element of risk but I just feel Ox has given the ball away quite cheaply in some games which then results in us losing our attacking impetus.
Nasri left because he only had a year left on his contract and was not going to sign a new one.The club was left with the decision whether to let him leave on a free or get a fee for him.Nasri acted professionaly until his transfer, the situation with RVP was exactly the same.Fabregas on the other hand had plenty of time left on his contract.Personally I don't think Wenger has forgiven Fabregas for the way he acted to force through a move to Barcelona.
Do agree 100%. But will not fault Fab personally. It is Barcelona's fault. They create all these unethical methods. Atleast Real throw money. Barcelona manipulate players. Examples - Suarez, Neymar, Fab, Henry et al.
