I think there are more than one poster making assumptions; I believe there are two observations thar merit consideration: 1. The whole manner of how and when this situation was communicated left an awful lot to be desired. Professional is not a word that should be associated with it. 2. The fact that they have had to backtrack and make the pathetic statements they have is a stunning indictment of their gross disregard for due diligence in their much publicised acquisition of the football club. A cynical observer might believe that these two owners have been equally dumped on by a third party. The so-called gift is no more than passing on any current and projected debt; now where have we seen that before?
The claim was that the players and even the chairman found out straight after Saturday's game. It's a hell of a claim to make if it's not true. I don't know how the Chairman can find out other than from the horses mouth. The statements are just typical Allam all over. A week after Allam went to the papers finally admitting that he wanted to change the name after a summer of speculation, he had the then MD Nick Thompson on the radio denying it. Their PR consists of defensive statements like this and constant 'clarification'. Statements of fact that come from the family or those employed by them are barely ever true. Nathan Peat wasn't the only one. The players were obviously told as one that they were being released. It makes perfect Allam sense to swiftly deny, before then putting pressure on those making the claims to retract them. Obviously he can't prove the bit about pulling money out, which will be why he's specifically had to 'correct' that bit. Peat is an aging footballer who's probably done at that level anyway, he's got nothing to lose to the Allams, unless they were able to threaten him. Do you seriously he think the players all just understood it completely wrong on Saturday night, and then had a simultaneous change of heart on Sunday afternoon?
I don't just like this post. I love ITTTTTTTTTTTT Can you like a post more than once on here? I don't know Nathan Peat....but IMO he is a great judge of character.
The present club ****ed over all those using the Arena to help get Cat 2 acadamy status, a move you supported if i remember correct. If wrong then i apologise.
There's enough actual Allam related stuff that's directly linked to city without having to try to make claims on statements that the autbor's themselves say are wrong. Doing that weakens the argument.
I do support it. Kicking a few meaningless teams out of a sports hall isn't quite the same as screwing people out of their livelihoods.
So those members of staff at the Airco Arena facing redundancy because of the change of use don't count then?
Peat hasn't just deleted the tweets. He's tweeted to say his initial claims were inaccurate. The only reason to do so would be that his original claims were libellous. Footballers are not usually the brightest bunch after all.
That is my position 100% on matters like this, and it always has been. I've been attacked on here for those very views and that stance in fact. This isn't the first time people think "its online, its got to be true" and run with it, while people like me stand aside and go "erm no, I think Id rather wait for something official". Its tempting to pass PLW's libelous comments on that follow your post about this, you know, to see if they're true. On the bright side, most sensible people see this bollocks for what it is, it's bollocks, and it pushes them away from cretins and gobshites like him and the others. Especially when they try to justify it, then blame other people for posting it in the first place, and making them post wrong, libelous and defamatory comments.
Why do you think he changed his mind on what he was told? Do you think he just forgot or misunderstood something so crucial? I don't. Do you think Peat believes his original claim was inaccurate? I don't. Why do you think several players said the very same thing on Saturday night, as well as Peat? Agreed. You don't just change your mind like that, he's obviously been warned. What do you think was the cause of the original statements then? Did the players just get confused? All at the same time. Silly them eh?! Funny how we were talking about the Oystons only the other day. You were going mental at the suggestion that the Allams would ever do something similar.
Funny how what he initially said was happening, isn't. What is happening, is similar to what's happened to several other clubs that got into similar situations.
Which bit is that? Have I actually missed something or are you just taking the vague, defensive statement from the owners as gospel? The one where they deny everything but say nothing. What is the situation they've got into that you refer to? And who has got them there? Do you think Peat and the other players just got confused? Deliberately lied because they're ungrateful hooligans etc? I don't see what motive the Ferriby players would have had to be dishonest; they were clearly told something on Saturday after the game.
Nothing vague about it. I'm basing it it on what the players said, what the club said and what the current actions are. You're basing yours on guesses and gut feeling. That's vague.
So ****ing what? Who's been bank rolling that club for 2 years? Have they not just been to Wembley in their biggest ever game? Have the owners not just offered their shares to the board for **** all? So they've decided they want to stop funding it have they said they're going to walk off and let it die? Answers on a postcard You lot are going to end up with the club you deserve
