Don't do what we did, which was "we got promoted, ergo we are good enough to survive in the premier league". Some of our players have stepped up, but others have not (e.g. our POTY last year has hardly played this season) Getting experience is crucial, without Cambiasso and Huth, we would not have 31 points Also remember that Goalkeepers and Defenders are also on another level in this league, so your strikers are going to have alot less chances and need to finish them in order to pickup points, so your strikers need a good shot/goal ratio.
Have to agree with all of this Wizard. To defend well against the sort of attack in the PL, the defenders need to be the next level up. It's here where I think most strengthening is needed. The playing for 95 min thing is crucial too. We don't want to be conceding loads from 80+ minutes.
Yes me too - good post Wizard We're in a good position really as we already have some "marquee" players up front and in midfield. Means they can perhaps spend a bit more on defenders. I reckon they've had their eye on players since they bought the club. It's a wonderful position to be in though - we've stolen at least a week on everybody else and I'd be surprised if negotiations with some were not already under way.
Last time we were in the prem when we got relegated, we would have finished mid-table if the game was 80 minutes I was happy when we got Ulloa, and even the most defensive of defenders Nigel Pearson said pre-season we need to score goals to stay in the league. He started great and then went off the boil and we were buggered for a while, we put too many eggs in one basket, luckily the other basket was free transfer Cambiasso, hes really captaining the team better than our club captain!
What are the new rules coming into the Premier League about home grown players? The Pozzos will, no doubt, be planning to get more British players in.
Think you need 7 or 8 in the squad but as the likes of Man City and Chelsea prove you don't have to play them.
