By the laws of the game then it's a perfectly good goal, not saying I completely agree but the referee/linesman had no right to disallow it. If anyone feels robbed then direct your anger at the rules as it is they that are wrong imo.
I would have been annoyed if it had been our goal that was disallowed for the same thing, but use of arm? Debateable. Move on.
Lamela tried to get his arm out of the way, so not deliberate and, therefore, couldn't be handball. Personally, I have always felt this is a grey area...as I think that goals off the arm shouldn't be given even though it's not handball if a penalty was at stake. However, the ref may not have seen it anyway and would have no grounds to over rule it even if he had seen it. There have been far dodgier decisions than this given....best to move on. It was a good game and at least we didn't lose.
I agree. It shouldn't have to be deliberate. Instead. It should be about gaining an advantage. I would also be happy if penalties were abolished for handball.
I wouldn't go as far as that...players would be batting the ball out of the way all the time in that case.
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor.../sunderland-v-southampton-who-referee-9130925 Mike Jones reffing the Sunderland game....so far he has officiated at 2 losses for us. Third time lucky.
Having watched the extended highlights I have to that I hope RK has got Steve Davis doing shooting practice after training all week. Good grief they look even worse on screen than they did live
Coincidence that JayRod is seen in the tunnel for the first time, is the same day Pochytwat returns? Also, anyone know what hapepned to Tadic on Sat? Don't remember seeing him warm up at all, and no sign of him on the undercovered vid.
Was that not him at 13.30 chatting to two Spuds? No coincidence that JRod was in tunnel so was Vic. Why make up problems when there aren't any?
Quick advice to Steven Davis, be aware of the target, look at the ball, don't lean back, put your boot through the ball, and maybe it will go where you want it to go.
