the owrry i have about benteke is that he is either lazy or a streaky player Before his injury he just fired a few in to keep villa up then signed a new deal and promptly got injured. I'm not sure if the wrok rate is an artifact of his injury recovery process or him just being a lazy sod as we see the same out of some belgian players that need not be mentioned... i think he was unplayable at times before injury but then very average too I think he's better than balotelli in most aspects of balotelli's favoured game style.... thats the thing.. like it or no it'd improve us but at a massive bloody price. Ings... this one is just a whatever. the absence of any real story has the press linking him everywhere like utd. he'll prob sign for villa once benteke goes to utd. #utd to become wimbledon mark 2
Getting Benteke (last summer) should have been a coup instead of Mario Balotelli. Knowing that he was injured Villa will have no choice other than selling. !
Benteke is powerful and excellent in front of goal. Ings would be a much more usefu and prolific deputy than Borini, Lambert and Balotelli and has his best years ahead of him. He also works bloody hard and presses very well, possible a bit of a Kuyt.
Was just checking their homegrown quota... Hart Caballero Wright Sagna Kompany Zabaleta Kolarov Mangala Clichy Demichelis Boyata Esmoris Tasende Fernando Milner Nasri Jesús Navas Lampard Silva Fernandinho Y Touré Dzeko Bony Agüero Jovetic ...I can only see six at present. Obviously with Milner about to leave that will become five so you may well be right.
Well he has a contract with mls side so I guess so. New rules that you have to have 3 years before your 18th birthday to be classed as HG rather than 3 years before 21 I think is the new rule. Something like that but was a bit on sky about it and how players like Clichy wouldn't be home grown anymore because of it
The contract with the MLS side was media BS though wasn't it? He signed permanently with Man City, no third party **** (ie loan)...? Three years prior to 18th birthday would be much better. There is no clue as to whether a player will make it or not prior to turning fifteen and therefore stops (make it harder) clubs hogging all the brightest 17/18 year old prospects.
Yes it is much more "harsh" or depending on point of view "fair" to local youngsters. You have to be in england at 15 now to get qualified as HG in the prem. I think the CL rules are actually less strict now. I think a lot of players would not be HG and i think there was a thing about how many players short of a team City etc would be. I think they proposed not 17 foreign players but 13 as well so that really makes a big difference If you have to be in at 15 to be HG OR one 13 if not it means we will see a lot more players beng over paid for by english clubs. Newcastle's buy cheap french tat policy is blown out of the water for example. This is why i say sell sterling for 50mil cos while he's not worth it top sides will be getting worried about this rule.

I find it interesting that LFC can currently comply but we will see. Right now LFc are not getting much out of being english-centric are we.... lots of players but weaker ones so... i dunno I think personally someone somewhere will eventually sue as they can be in effect classified as nationalized if they are in england 5 years then get ****ed out of their club due to these rules... I can see this all being watered down in the end.
finally.... The squad should be 13 foreigners and 12 home grown... that sounds quite fair yes? you need to have top top 1 foreign lads to be worth their slots don't you... not the alberto's of this world so the reality is i expect more loans out to foreign clubs happening but we have to take care cos they won't have a sunderland bidding made money to get them will we?
It still doesn't mean players have to be English (or Welsh) though. Plus, if these new rules force others into doing the same then we're a step ahead of most too.
It's quite simple - we sign players like Depay a year before when we normally do. He's now hot property but his talent was evident last season. Same with Lacazette. We simply have to be smarter and quicker in the market. Also, there were rumours that Monchi (Sevilla's DoF) was in Liverpool over the past week. Could imply that FSG want to go back to that structure. Would be a coup if we can get him.
