Yes he should be considered as there haven't been many who have been outstanding all season and this is why De Gea should get it.

You could apply that to Young and probably even Fellaini. Personally I think lumping all our success in matches to De Gea really is a disservice to the likes of Mata, Carrick, Herrera and Young. Now, none of those deserve to be poty but they are very good reasons why we are where we are in the league as much as De Gea. He's saved important goals, they've created and scored just as many.

If Young gets POTY I'll stop watching footy.

Seriously though the others have been good at times and bad at times, surley POTY has to have been consistent throughout a season? This season has lacked players doing that.

That's why Hazard should win it IMO. Been consistently a threat all season and unlike a lot of modern players, he's get up and gets on with it when fouled (which is an awful lot too)

But it also shows that 'age' and 'experience' are big myths in football.

Quality is what wins you trophies and personal accolades - regardless of age.

    A fair outcome.

The team of the year is interesting and all.

    One Utd player (de gea)
    One LFC player (coutinho)
    One Spurs player (kane)
    One arsenal player (sanchez)
One on loan cheslea player (call them southampton sure ok they bought him) Bertrand
    Rest all cheslea

No city players in team of year despite currently aguero topping goal charts

    true....

I think the way football is going it will be rarer and rarer that "older" more "experienced" players will win such awards as in general There are few non pace orientated players around.

I could see coutinho playing on and on as his games not about pace par se. his feet are quick, he's got a turn f pace but he's all baout vision and trickery.

how many players like that truely are in the prem... truely i mean?

Hazard.. nope... speed especially running with it.
    Silva? maybe so.
    sanchez.. pace man
    Ozil.. yes
    oscar? maybe so.

then you start to really run out.

Sterling, ibe, no way all pace, walcot, ox all pace... etc etc etc

Just as I called it, it was a no brainer anyway. Doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

The Truth is, if Bale can win POTY and YPOTY then Kane should have won both awards because he's been prolific playing in that Spurs side which aren't great. But I do think it is stupid a player can win both, it's so obvious they need to split up the awards into two age brackets.

But Hazard has been consistent for a few years now and althought Kane has been more productive than anyone, Hazard deserves some recognition, he would have won it only for the fact, and even though it stuck in people's craw to vote hor him, Suarez was supreme last year with so many fantastic goals.

If Hazard had won it last year, Kane would have won both awards this year imo, people, me inlcuded, figured Hazard deserved something for a solid consistent 3 years of being a very very good player in a Chelsea side that doesn't compliment his skill

    De Gea shouldn't be there

Nowhere near top in terms of clean sheets

He's made a few good saves but what does that matter? Are strikers judged on the quality of their best 5 or so goals, in which case Kane and Hazard have scored far more boring hoofs than spectacular strikes and neither have won a goal of the month competition

    Who iyho should be keeper?
    Def not Courtois

Also, Aguero has been in a much more **** team and in and out of the side as much as Costa. but the media especially the salford twats have totally ignored Aguero all season, has scored more than costa and made more of his own goals too, most of Costa's were cutbacks 6 to 8 yards out.

Aguero had as much case for inclusion as Costa

Mignolet is top with 13 clean sheets (43%) compared to De Gea's 10 (29%)

Only the media campaign about his "crisis" that in the end lasted 1 game and was massively overblown makes people not recognise him

  14. Is that percentage based on the league games the club has played or player? If player, Migs' will be better since he missed some games :)

    Mignolet 13/30, De Gea 10/34

So De Gea has had 4 more chances to keep cleans sheets and is still 3 behind #notevenclose

Same with Aguero and Costa, the media have made Aguero invisible even though he's scored more goals while constantly talking about how good Costa is.
Yet more proof that people have no clue that their very opinions are being shaped for them.

But meh, this is what they do with politics too not just football, no surprise.

We must refer to the meda as the PR people because that's what they are. PR people mostly not journalists.

To be fair to De Gea, his distribution has been very good tho, infinitely better than Mings

I think this award is very much one of the moment and that moment comes when the players fill in their forms.

I think costa was hot then and aguero injured. (jan?)

lets face it coutinho had a good jan/feb but was poor along with team in sept/oct/nov so does he really deserve that slot?

I think he's been given a platform to play in finally sohis talents shows but if its an award over a year?

in any event.. de gea = well deserved.
